Talking Took delivery of my Avant today.

I know I'm totally out of my league around you guys since it's only a base model, but I figured I'd share some pics soon since I figured someone around here would be interested in seeing one. I was able to special order it and only paid invoice. I'm very impressed so far. I've been a long-time fan of brand ever since living in Germany, and this is hopefully the first of many Audis. It goes without saying that I won't be missing my old Honda Fit (except the stick shift). Need to wait for some daylight to take some pictures.

Nothing to be ashamed of with base model, that just means you'll have more of your residual/resale value left (as a percentage of original cost) after a few years. Now let's see some photos!

Ok this might choke up your bandwidth...

    daytime running lights

At first glance, the rails look as if they're purely there for decoration, but there are grooves machined into them to attach roof racks.

Someone in a thread recently claimed that the sunroof didn't close all the way on the Avant. This is false.

Much better visibility out the back. The window gobbles up the rear view mirror.

Premium trim doesn't have the array of MMI controls near the shifter or the push start button. Car is started by depressing brakes and inserting clicker.

Great photos, and nice lookin' ride. What do you mean about the sunroof? Someone said it wouldn't close all the way?

Re: Took delivery of my Avant today.

    Thank you!

Someone in one of the threads, maybe it was audiforums.com, claimed that you could only partially block the sun with the opaque headliner guard. Maybe they thought this because of the break in the middle of sunroof. It's not true, it closes all the way.

Compared to what I'm used to driving, it's a dream machine. It feels so light when driving, it's like you're just gliding over the road--and the roads around here are sub-par. Very easy to drive and quite forgiving handling at higher speeds. Engine is smooth like butter. No turbo lag and 2100-2200 rpm at 70mph. I drove around aimlessly til like 4am last night, just didn't wanna stop.

Sound system is more than adequate for my needs, and I love my music. iPod integration is a must. The cable was already in the glove box and I can confirm that the iPod classic gen 6 works just fine.

Yeah the new 2.0T is a great motor. I think I remember the post you're talking about, but I interpreted it to mean that the fabric sunshade didn't block out all of the sun (because it's porous and allows some light through). Not that it didn't close all of the way shut. But I could be thinking of a different thread. I can confirm, the Avant sunshade does extend all the way to the front of the car (to the sun visors) when closed, and does not stop halfway.

    Nice!!!

I miss having an Avant. I don't know what I was thinking getting a sedan this time. If you remove the filler plate, you should have the european version behind it. It looks better then the US plate holder.

I'd love to take the license plate holder off, but you have to have a front plate in Texas. Some people get away with it. My luck isn't good enough to depend on cop leniency.

    Thanks for the pictures.

I'm planning on getting the same thing but with the Sport pkg and the Xenon/LED headlights. Lucky that in Canada, the Xenon/LED headlights is a standalone pkg.

    that's one beautiful car!!!
    and the sunroof's amazing :)
so your dealer's in houston huh??
at least you've got what many people wish they have!
    dual tail exhausts!!!

again, there's nothing wrong with the base model!
and probably the reason why you had honda fit was to save up for this beauty!

No question I would have gotten those if they had not been part of a package here. They're really the only other thing I wish my car had. Perhaps I'll wait for an aftermarket solution.
