    suspension question

Ok well comparing my car to my friends 03 coupe g35. Why is my suspension firmer or just as firm as his? His car is on stock sport suspension and my car sits just a little bit lower then his, not much. He has a 3 finger gap and i have a 2-3 finger gap. Him being on 18's and me on 16's. His tires being staggered 245/45/18 in front and 275/40/18 in rear. Mine being 205/55/16 all around. My suspension has only 1000 miles on it being bilstien/vogtland sport shock combo.
his car barley has an give when you push down on the corners of the car and mine has noticeably more... Why is that? is that springs or shocks or both together? Does that determine how much body roll the car is going to have. If he can push down less on his car then mine, then why would my car take bumps in the road rougher then his??

    just out of curiosity.

    Re: suspension question

it is a completely different suspension system. Everything is going to react and work together differently....as far the having "give" that is a combination of both I believe. Different springs have different load ratings ect..

His car came from the factory as a performance oriented car, so they designed the shocks and springs along with the suspension geometry to all work together for the weight and ride height it hsa. I'm probably going to get some flack for saying this, but spring/shock combos really aren't that great for performance on our car. In my experience the bilstein sport shocks' rebound dampening is too low for the spring rates that the major companies use, leaving the car rough and/or bouncy...

The body roll has a couple of different factors, he may have less than you but it really depends on the cars suspension geometry, weight, weight distribution, traction, shocks/springs, and sway bars.

    Re: suspension question

i think those cars are also dual wishbone front and rear where ours are McPherson strut design.

    Re: suspension question

ok this makes it a little more clear. His car is 51/49 weight distribution as well. Our cars are like what 58/42?
