I think they changed the default amount of posts per page. I think its 35 now as apposed to 30...

Correct it's now 40 instead of 35. We made a few other minor tweaks and setting changes as well, and are just trying some different things out. Most of these settings haven't been touched since 2004, and a lot has changed since then.
