    Re: handheld diagnostic anyone ???

Does anyone have this? I have been thinking about it for a while, because I don't want to have to keep my laptop in the car when doing data logging. Does this work as well and do as much as the VAG-COM computer program?

Yeah, Apple has been really slow to release a whole bunch of apps. They were supposed to release an App called iCall. Which lets you make free calls over WiFi. According to the company that made the App, they submitted it a while ago to Apple and it has yet to be approved. So, I'm sure Rev isn't the only company waiting on Apple. It does stink that it takes so long.

There is a reason why it's slow for the VoIP applications. When a phone manufacturer like Motorola, Apple, Samsung, etc. makes a phone for a carrier such at AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, etc., there are agreements to features available and disagreements to features to not make available. I am sure VoIP is in the talks for the carriers, but without their approval, Apple probably cannot approve the app. Keep in mind that AT&T will lose money if a VoIP capable application comes out because people will not be using the minutes provided on AT&T's plan. All carriers even frown upon WiFi because people are no longer using the carrier's data services. That is why carriers require you to sign up for their data services with any data capable phone upon contract.

I see your point, but there are already several apps in the App store that let you make calls over WiFi.

oh btw i just found out there is something called Fring for the iPhone that lets you call... but probably only to other Fring users
do any apps allow you to call a phone number?
I could use gmail talk to talk to friends for free... but it's just a hassle to get everyone on the same boat :(

    Re: handheld diagnostic anyone ???

I think you can call anyone. You just have to pay them (Fring) a few cents a minute. There are also other programs, like Push to talk, that let you talk to other people who have that program for free. But you both have to be on WiFi
