car having troubles starting in cold...?

just wondering, has this problem ever happened to anyone else?
i didnt start my car for the last 2 days and it was about 20-30 Degrees F for the 2 days.. and when i tried starting it, the battery was fine, but it just wouldnt start.

about 2 hours later i tried again, and it worked fine... i thought it was the starter but i guess not? the cold just does weird things to our car engines or something?

that did in fact happen to me as i spent two days away from my car during new years in queens, ny. i got back home on the 2nd around 4pm, to find out that the fuel inside my gas tank was almost frozen. It took me at least 8 times even with my foot on the accelerator to get it going, and started up pretty rough b/c of the cold.

i live toward morthern mn, and have had many days below 0*F this year, and my car has started on the first turn every time.

i run 0w30 full syn though... maybe if you are running a higher viscosity oil such as 10w30 it might be tougher to start for that reason.

idk though good luck figuring it out

my case is cause of the fact i was low on gas and close to the E. i was told that if you let gas in your tank go that low, that it will freeze over..unfortunately that's what happened to me. though idk what the other guy's case is.

There is a little water in gas and the water is last to go through the lines. It's an easy fix though, just pour a bottle of 'Heet' in your tank and it will thaw out your tank.

This happens even faster if you park in a garage where you have warming and cooling all the time. This causes condensation in the tank. The lower your tank, the more condensation.

My car starts fine up to about -10. Then I plug it in and it will start fine down to -50 thanks to heating pads.

Re: car having troubles starting in cold...?

I had a car once upon a time where the Air intake temperature sensor went bad, and for the car to choke properly in different temperatures, the coolant temperature sensor and the intake temperature sensor must agree. I replaced the Intake temperature sensor, and all was well. The reason is starts after several tries is that the engine begins to heat up with each failed start and will eventually start without the automatic choke because the engine temperature will be conducive. I hope that helps.
