    Will a 96 A4, 2.8L fint in a,97 2.8L A4 It liiks the same to me but the junk yard is not says no.

    96-97 had the same engine which was the 2.8l 12v which had 172hp, versus 98 and on having the 2.8l 30v rated at 190hp.

    i would say go ahead and swap in a 3.0 with ecu. trans bolts up the same. not sure about flywheel/flexplate though.
