Common 2.8 coolant leaks?

As the title says, I'm looking for advice from 2.8 30v owners tracing down coolant leaks. I've been searching for a while and most of the stuff out there is 1.8t related (t-flange etc.)

I recently had to replace the oil cooler and o-ring and after that was completed it looks like I'm loosing coolant on the drivers side of the engine. Any most-likely places/parts I should check? I'm pretty sure it's letting air in the system as I've bled a few times and the heater won't get to full heat and the temp gauge won't get to full operating temp, even after 45 minutes driving. Keep in mind it's been below freezing here for a while.

I have not had any problems if that helps contribute to your question. Maby check your coolent mix? If there is a leak, it is common to be able to smell the coolent if you try hard enough. Can you find any leaks? I know that sometimes a coolent leak is hard to find if the underside of your engine is dirty.

Haha, at least I got one reply. Yeah, I just put in new coolant with perfect 50/50 mix (g12 & distilled water) since I had to replace the oil cooler and o-ring.

I just figured since pretty much all the problem spots people mention on this forum I've ended up having to deal with that there was maybe something else I'm definitely going to have to replace with respect to the cooling system.

I think I'll check the coolant temp sensor, it's just that where ever the leak is, it's really hard to see.

are you sure its leaking? you see the reservoir level going down?

the driving around and not coming to full temp sounds like a faulty thermostat to me. they seem to go bad a lot in these cars.

good luck with the leak, if coolant is dissappearing and there is no leak, then get ready for some $$ repairs, as in new head gaskets and stuff.

whens the last time the timing belt was done? with a 2.8 the timing belt pretty much HAS to be done to change the thermostat anyway. maybe its time for a new belt, tensioner, water pump, and thermostat.
