    2.4 V6 30V to 2.8 V6 30V. Plug and play?

My 2.4 un my B5 00' is slowly dying(cam chain tensioners, bouth of them). So I decided to get a 2.8 form an A4/A6 and swap it in, when the 2.4 dies. The question is, how hard is it? Does the wiring match, do the ecu's and stuff match, etc.?

as far as I know, the 2.4 is just a de-stroked 30V 2.8, so everything should mate right up.

Wiring harness for 2,4 / 2,8 30V are the same part number, so yes, plug-and-play.

ECU as expected, has different part number, but again, connector is is common to both 2,4 and 2,8 30V models.

The 2,8 30V will run on the 2,4 30V ECU, but may not be optimised in terms of power output - ignition timing may be different, the fuelling definitely will be different.

You could purchase a used 2,8 30V ECU to get the best out of the larger displacement engine.

Ok. But if the donor is an automatic? The ECU is the same in an automatic as in a manual?

    whats that?

    Ohh, and one more thing.

When i input my VIN in ETKA ti shows a couple of variations of cars for that VIN number, there are also 2.8 ltr. engines amongst those but only two of them.

The needle bearing (spigot bearing) is what supports the transmission input shaft, on an automatic, it's not used, a torque converter support bush is fitted instead.

So, if the engine's from an auto, this bush needs to be removed, and a spigot bearing pressed in in it's place. Part number for the spigot bearing is 034 105 313A.

As for the 2,8 30V motor, there are several.
All will be compatible with your 2,4 30V, obviously, if the engine's a lot newer than yours, then simply use your ancillaries, including camshafts, and it'll be fine.
