Will someone hack ECUx already??

So I've been searching a way to get ECUx for the past little bit. I found their old ECUx page that doesn't actually let you buy it (it just goes to a dead page)

So I called them up and spoke with a couple of different people, one of which sounded like a main dude. He said they don't sale it, don't support and have no idea how or where I can gain access to it. He said the guy who programmed it for them had long since left (which I already knew). I told him I didn't care about support I just wanted to get ahold of it and he still couldn't help me.

I know there's some of you here that are capable of hacking the program to make a code to activate it or somehow make it useable. Some people were probably morally opposed to this previously, but now that it is completely disowned, disavowed, and released by APR, I hereby release you of that moral burden. Now, if you're capable, PLEASE MAKE ME A COPY OF ECUx! I'll be indebted to you forever

Doesnt work with any A4 ECU, believe me I tried. And we're still trying to get it to work.

Will the registration file from someone who already bought the program and installed it on another computer work? I'm pretty sure it won't as that would be far too simple and already done.

A question on the jump drive, can you copy the program to that computer and will it run? or will it only run off the jump drive? Or will it only run if the jump drive is plugged in? If it's #2 or #3 the jump drive may be a HASP key or similar

It's just a registration file that you import from the jump drive which is based on a generated number that ECUx puts out when it first installs on your comp.

some sort of Sentinel software hardware lock? USB jump drive acting as keylock makes me lean that ways. It would be nice if someone would post it so we could figure it out.

It doesn't act like a keylock at all.
When you install and launch APR ECUx for the first time, it generates a code (on the top of this picture) and asks you to email [email protected] Which they will then send you a flashdrive with a registration file you import (bottom of the picture). That's it. No hardlock or anything. Just a simple string based on the string it generated from your computer. Why they couldn't just email you the string, I have no idea.

They are a great tuner, so I would assume they wouldn't release anything until it's solid, it might still be in Beta/Development.

Same reason why Tuning software isnt publicly available. Im trying to get the EcuX from one computer to another. If i can figure it out, might have to make some money off it

I just bought ECUx from APR last Wednesday, and I've been waiting for their techies to send me the reg. key (file). As mentioned, the original software writer has since left APR so there really isn't any tech-support for it anymore; luckily they prefaced this fact before I bought it. It also doesn't work on Vista, so that's kind of a big issue... Since I have Vista on my laptop, I'm either going to have to partition my hard drive and run 2 OS's, or try installing Virtual P.C. and run a pseudo WinXP OS... They said they'd refund me the money if it I can't get it to work, which was kind of cool.

I'll report back here in a few days eitherway...

okay there turbo. I'm just relaying what APR told me personally. Once I get the reg. file I'll try it as you've suggested, otherwise there are other options. Obviously we're not all complete "retards" when it comes to computers, or we wouldn't be talking about hard drive partitioning and virtual P.C....
