    podi disaster?

so...I tried installing my podi pod on my steering wheel column today. Here's what happened.

I couldn't get the holder on. I pushed the steering wheel column down as far as I can and there was just no clearance to get it on. I tried turning the wheel with no luck and I even clipped alittle bit of the bezel to try to give it more clearance. It was not going in. What am I doing wrong? Is this a one time messed up gauge bezzle? I haven't seen anything like this on the boards yet. So.....please help PODI?!!?!??!!

    Re: podi disaster?

I pulled the clip thing on the bottom of the column down, and the steering wheel can move up and down. I moved down as far as I could. Can I pull it towards me? I have a 05.5 by the way.

    Re: podi disaster?

I had the same trouble installing my podi, u have to pull the side's a little outward on the actual "podi" and try to get one side in a bit and then the other side until it finally clips in and you can screw the t8 back in. Very frustrating install. Hope this helps.

ok...I'm deleting this....I just went down stairs and did it....I'm stupid. I def tugged on it and little too to see if it would move. I actually just right now had to pull it pretty hard to get it to come out. This should solve my problem though....THANKS...I'm a tard.

Sorry that I missed this thread but I am glad people helped you solve the problem.

I'd love to see pics of that Defi gauge when you have the install completed.

    Re: podi disaster?

i ran into the same issue when installing mine. i had no idea that the wheel was telescoping.

i was soo pissed during the install, because i was like: "damn, if i had a half inch, this thing would go in soo easy". so i kept moving it up and down, seeing if i could get the right angle. then i just pulled the wheel towards me to see if i could get it to budge ever so slightly, and the whole wheel came out like 3 inches. i felt like a total retard.

    Re: podi disaster?

you know I had thought that I read some where that it was telescopic, and I searched "telescope" and didn't come up with anything. LoL...live and learn. Atleast now nobody else will make that mistake.

I'm installing the defi white racer boost gauge. I'm gonna be away for two weeks so the next time I can install it is on the 24th. I'll post pictures of the install and of how I ran my boost line. I had everything ready to hook up when I tried to get the pod in place and it would not go in. I was sooooo pissed. I thought that that part was supposed to be the easy part. lol....I ran the vacuum line through the ecu. I thought it would be the easiest way. I didn't feel like jacking up the car. I didn't have any trouble getting the windshield wipers off, but I did break my cowl grill. Nothing notacible to the normal person, but I know its there so I'm gonna order a new one (30 bucks) and call it a day. I'm excited to see how much boost I'm making. Next in line is the eurojet pcv fix and jhm short shifter.

Just a quick question. I've done some searching and found that people have tapped the grey/ blue stripe wire from the light switch for constant power but here do I get the ACC power and the Illumination power? I have a good idea for the acc, but really have no clue for the illumination....any suggestions would be great.

how did you know I was installing a defi gauge?!....i guess you could maybe tell from the pictures?

The guage looks great in the pod. The black bezel on the gauge comes off and is silver also, so I'm gonna take a look and see which one I like better. I'll probably go with the silver though to match the rest of the gauges.

    Re: podi disaster?

I can tell from the pictures that it is a Defi gauge as I have a few of them in my workbench.

Really nice gauges they make but too bad you have to get the super expensive ones in order to get a white background and red needle.
