    USP Bumper vs. Stock Bumper

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I know this topic has been discussed to death, but my question is specifically related to the price of the stock upper bumper vs. the price of the usp upper bumper. I have searched all over and can't find a comparison of the price, especially since the only place you can really purchase the usp upper bumper is from DTH.

I has a guy back into me the other day and his insurance is paying for just the upper bumper to be replaced (as well as the hood) and I would like to go ahead and purchase the usp lower parts myself to have the body shop install while they're at it. Since I am having the upper bumper replaced anyway, I wanted to see how much extra JUST the upper bumper would be for the usp.

Would it be in my benefit to go ahead and have the body shop just order the entire usp front from dth and just pay the difference for the lower parts myself or could I get them separately from somewhere else a little cheaper? Straight from Audi an option? Just have body shop order stock upper bumper and see if they can fabricate it to fit the usp lower that I purchase? Help...

Try DTH or keep shopping around. Your gonna pay way too much if you go through the dealer...but that's always the case..good luck

I would definitely look through classifieds first, either on here or fourtitude. And if you end up ordering it from DTH, you should try to order it through that shop you're using to see if they can get it at a wholesale price.

Re: USP Bumper vs. Stock Bumper

The part numbers for each are listed below along with their prices from Genuine VW/Audi Parts These prices are also within a few dollars of what World Impex charges.

The part number for the USP upper will come up with a description of 'S4 front bumper', however I have confirmed with Craig over at Genuine that this is in fact the USP upper.

    USP Upper - 8E0807103ASGRU $561.24
    Stock Upper - 8E0807103MGRU $387.89

Now as for the price difference who knows. These two parts are different contrary to what people on here will tell you. If they weren't, a stock upper wouldn't require modification to fit the USP lower to it. (however, they may look aesthetically identical when on the car, the upper half that is)

I've been looking for this particular part myself and no one has it for significantly less than this price. The price has actually gone up a bit in the last year too. I assume that is because they're no longer being mass produced, if at all. The only way you'll find this cheaper is if you can find someone that works for Audi directly and can order the part at an employee price. I was quoted somewhere around $460 from an individual I know at Audi North America.

Re: USP Bumper vs. Stock Bumper

you buy a stock A4 bumper and get a USP lower half then you put the bumper together yourself!
it's very easy to do. you cut away whatever on the stock upper half that may stop you from putting the two pieces together.
you live in NC, so you can do a one piece bumper as well, which you have to let the body shop mold the two pieces into one, since both pieces use the same material, you will have a less chance of cracking the SOB.

    DIY guide
no point of wasting money to buy a USP upper bumper.

Re: USP Bumper vs. Stock Bumper

I know I could do the DIY usp lower with the stock upper. Since insurance is paying for the bumper to be replaced anyway, I was really just wondering what the difference would be to upgrade to the usp upper bumper vs. just sticking with the stock upper.

I think I'm definitely going to go with the lower parts, just wanted to know what the best option would be for the upper. Stick with the stock upper and see if the body shop could do the necessary work to make the usp lower fit (possibly molded)....or just pay the extra to get the usp upper and lower?

Really just needing to know the price difference in the stock upper and usp upper since I knew there were some slight differences. Also, Do you really think I could get a wholesale price on the entire usp front from DTH or anywhere else if I just have the shop order the parts?

Re: USP Bumper vs. Stock Bumper

So if someone (like me) for example did the USP lower and had the stock upper, do the pastic bumper parts meet up exactly? Especially where the center grille goes? If I bought rather the S4 front bumper vs. the USP, would the fitment be 100% or would I still need to cut away?

Re: USP Bumper vs. Stock Bumper

Just have the body shop order the parts from their source...do not screw them out of their profit...they can buy it just as cheap as anybody can, they can sell it to you for less since it will not be shipped to you.

Give these part numbers to the body shop...

    $698.06 $561.24 8E0 807 103 AS GRU (Upper Bumper)
    $256.68 $184.81 8E0 807 110 B GRU (Lower Spoiler)
    $215.37 $155.06 8E0 807 647 D 01C (center grill chrome) or $215.37 $155.06 8E0 807 647 F 5PV (center grill black)
    $50.08 $36.06 8E0 807 681 C 01C (Left Grill)
    $50.08 $36.06 8E0 807 682 C 013 (Right Grill)

The price in red is full retail, the price in black is what the body shop should be paying...it is entirely fair to allow them to make 10%.

400HPA4 - your post was very helpful. I was backed into and trying to figure out how to make this work and now I know! I'm going to have my body shop order the part - let me know when it comes in and do the fit myself -then bring it back for their paint.
