    Check engine light

Ok, so the other day my dipstick tube broke. I put it back together and left it like that until my new part comes in. Right afterwards, I turned the car on and noticed a check engine light. Does anyone know what that could mean? There are no oil leaks. Any help is appreciated.

I do not have a vag-com but am going to a friends this weekend to check it out. I searched but found nothing except for how to replace it.

Link just in case someone else is curious.

    Re: Check engine light

very hard to tell without the code. could be a EGR code or something for incorrect crankcase ventilation readings, but normaly thats for a large leak. i ran a broken dipstick tube and a cracked crankcase breather tube (the one under the intake mani) for a month or two before i noticed it, no CEL was thrown for either.

you won't get a cel for any kind of PCV system as long as it it direct to the pcv system and doesnt tie into anything else.. i dont even have a pcv system anymore.

Go to autozone/advanced/orileys/etc and let them give you the scan. It will at least tell you what the basic code is.
