Bottomed out on some rough stuff, now got a clunking

Took my new 99 a4 out to see what the quattro was capable of and got into some rough offroad trails. Ended up scraping the bottom a bit, no cosmetic damage but now my car clunks.

It only clunks/clicks in first or second gear while heavy on the throttle. So no sound if you're gentle with it. Sound speeds up with the speed of the car, but goes away once it shifts into third.

I'm not great with cars, but I'm thinking the exhaust might be loose and banging around?

Any input to what it might be would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note, disconnected the ecu to try to clear an error code for a shot break switch, and now my windows aren't one-touch. Is there an easy fix for this, or do i need to get myself a vag-com to reprogram?

dont know about the clunking but for the windows, hold the button in the down position for 5 secs and then again in the up postion for 5 secs. they have to relearn their stop for the one-touch

You need to take a video. It sounds like what happened to my car and transmission and now I need a new tranny. Does it sound like a loud metal vibrating noise that gets quicker? I'd check for exhaust leaks first.

You know you don't have to go down.. Just hold it up, it hits the top hold it another couple seconds and your done.

Well i guess it sounds more like a rattling then anything else, and it varies with the rpm's. Also it only makes the sound when accelerating. No warning lights have come on and just scanned it and no codes came up. Very puzzling.

I'll try to capture it on video tomorrow.

I had a very similar problem, it ended up being the heat shield that runs between the exhaust and the driveshaft. The heat shield was hitting the drive shaft but only when accelerating or downshifting. Prob worth at least checking it out.
