I am wondering if flywheels advertised just for the B5 (5spd quatrro 1.8t) are the same as a B6 (5spd quattro 1.8t)?

Re: B5 flywheel same as B6??

i've heard that the flywheel and clutch discs are dif for the b5 and b6.. a southbend rep told me that the flywheel is sprung on one of them and the disc is sprung on the other.. and supposedly a clutch and flywheel "kit" will work for either b5 or b6 but cant mix and match the disc and flywheel... if what i was told is wrong, someone please let me kno since i have a b5/b6 clutch & lwf kit for my b6 1.8..

Pretty much the same. All of the lwfw's produced work on all the A4 1.8t's be it a 5 speed or 6 speed.

All A4's have to use a unsprung disk with the stock dual mass flywheel. All of the clutch/flywheel companies have 1 part number for the clutch and 1 part number for the flywheel when it comes to the B5/B6 1.8t.

For some reason Im thinking that the flywheel bolts are different lengths for the B5 vs B6... Anyone know?

    EDIT: see here

    No final clarification, unfortunately.

Yes, the lwfw's sold for the B5 and B6 are the same part number.

They are all the same from 2000 and up (1.8Ts). The 97-99's use an older design flywheel, that uses conventional hex bolts. But they are all interchangeable (meaning you can run a 2000+ flywheel on a 97 and vice versa).

Do you mean the clutch disk? If so then yes that is correct for his B6 since the disks came as a sprung hub to make the clutch feel even more less aggressive as the driver starts to apply the clutch. Basically both the stock flywheel and the stock disk then give allowing power to be transfered more slowly.

It seems that Audi started using sprung hub disks after changing the design of the A4 1.8t dual mass flywheel in 2000.
