...its the new trend for alot of show cars, but as my DD i think it would look pretty nasty with my set-up.

I too have been contemplating doing this to my A3... my dad actually started up a vinyl wrapping company for race car wraps, etc. Hes been so damn busy Im still waiting for my quote for materials. I like the idea of matte black or matte blue, or matte red, or possibly even matte olive green

Im not sure, he usually only does body panel wraps, hoods, roofs, doors, never EVERY INCH of a car, so hes gonna look into it. Hes currently waiting on a new vinyl cutter/printer for his new 30ft racecar trailer, he hasnt gotten back to me on the quote yet.

Id say about 2500-3300, thats pretty realistic, its about the same as body panel wraps on the race cars he does, trailers cost about that as well. Ill get back to you a for sure answer once I hear from him. If I do this, ill choose another color so you can do the black

oooh yea, keep in mind the engine bay and inside the fenders where the door opens (not the full door jams) will still show your original color which sucks, but you could always do something about that. I think if I do wrap mine, id paint the engine bay and inside the doors (part where the wires, hinges show when open) also inside the gas cap area in a black, so if I ever get sick of the color wrap I could do another wrap, change it up and yet still have those areas black instead of white since mines white.

I saw a matte red on a gti, however it was painted and looked like it was painted in the guys garage, overspray on everything and it was blotchy, and very uneven.

Wonder how a matte yellow or burnt orange would look... probably sweet but I think id get sick of the color after about a week or so lol

...lava grey and black do well together, and since im taking advantage of a wrap i wouldnt dare mess with paint.
o long as the lines were straight i dont think it would bother me

it wont be that different from a nonmetallic black car other then finger prints/oil, and thats more of porous primer characteristic
the lack of gloss is much more resilient to grime
...and uh, im not waxing vinyl bud

I do Vinyl work up in Canada. My A3 is half wrapped ( top half ) in gloss black, bottom is stock Brilliant RED. ( pictures in my gallery ) Its a VERY time consuming process and for a complete car I'd expect at least 3 g's. Its not so much a materials charge as the labour process. Just keep in mind to do Matte Vinyl it will likely be a 2mil unlaminated film, meaning it can chip/tear very easily.

Now all that being said, its still bada$$ and I say you do it. :D
