Question for those w/ Tip Trans: Quicker shifting?

I've noticed that my car appears to shift "very" slightly quicker when using the manual knob mode over the paddle's. Does this fly? Should they be the same or one better/quicker?

I thought it was the other way around. I find it slower when using the knob. But in the end they all seem to run off the same program. If you have vac com you can see they all use the same thing. Open up the trans in vag I don't remember what one it is but you can watch it change shift logic between S M and tip

Is that an engine agnostic upgrade or just for the 4.2l cars? What are the intended benefits?

Re: Question for those w/ Tip Trans: Quicker shifting?

Yes. I noticed that too. The paddles shift slower than if you were to grab the shifter stick and push it forward. But for best results, I just put it into the auto modes...D for normal driving and S for in-the-seat-of-your-pants exhilaration. IMHO, the computer knows the optimum and most efficient time to shift in relation to its pre-programmed parameters.

"These tiptronic® software upgrades increase shift speeds and are calibrated for higher torque levels"

I have been told by my local GIAC dealer that they are working on a flashable version of this software for the B6 S4.
