Lost my virginity yesterday

I blew my first coilpack yesterday on my way home from work. Just got my Stage 1+ flash (from Stage 1) a day earlier. Since I had to pull over at some McDonalds and didn't have my laptop on me, I just bought 4 brand new coils from the dealer ($173 total - ouch). I'm going to check my codes and see which cylinder was misfiring, but just so I know which one was bad, how are the cylinders numbered? If you were facing the engine, is it 4 first and 1 is furthest away? Or vice versa?

did u get the same coils u have on the car now?.. cause if u did u wasted your money, take them back... get Hitachi-E.. dealership might not have em, but check ecs when u have internet

just from a typical standpoint, 1 is closest to the front of the engine.. 1 is closest to you and 4 is back by the flywheel

Most likely #3 will go first, order is as said, #1 at the timing belt, 4 at the tranny

Three weeks ago on Tuesday, # 3 went on me on the way home from work. That next Tuesday on the way into work #4 went..
I've never had a coil go out in the B5 which I find strange seeing I've owned that car for 6 years not and the B6 a year at the end of the month..

my dad has a 97 a6 1.8t with 500,000km and has never replaced a coilpack.. maybe those use the hitach E types

Think they'll let me return them after they've been in my car? I'll have to keep them until I get the ones from ECS anyways.

My B5 never had a single coil pack issue either. I had it to 100k when I sold it and no coil pack problems. However, those were bolted down by default and the ICM was separate on the B5. I believe it's integrated into the coilpack(s) on the B6s which I believe may be part of the issue. (at least in the early rev of the coilpacks)

if they're already installed the dealer won't take them back, but if the dealer assumes they are still new they probably will. so that is up to you to see if you can pull off. Hitachi-E's are great but the oem replacements work perfectly fine.

My first coil pack when when i added the APR stage 1+ - didnt have any issue with stage 1, but the added + seemed to make it a normal occurence for me ... gotta love those engine mods ...

coil packs blow up on B6s because we have hot running ULEV motors, add a software flash to it and we run even hotter, then the components fail.
