    Re: Up the boost.

On my old GIAC file, I ran a MBC stand alone spiking to 20psi tapering down to 18 with no throttle cut. I had one of their latest files though. I really wouldn't go past 20psi on the K03's if I were you. That may be a recipe for disaster unless you're ready to swap a new set in of K03 or K04's. I'm sure others will chime in backing my reasoning up.

yea definitly dont up the boost higher than 20. all its gonna do is blow your turbos alottttt quicker and you wont feel a big hp jump cause all you will be doing is blowing hot air into your exhaust. if u want to go faster, run it with race gas and a race gas file, get meth, or say fuck it and go k04's

Mine does exactly the same right now until i get my stage 3- software on saturday (yay) and im ditching the MBC. I wouldnt do 20psi on k03s because i think thats past its efficiency range. But set it to 20 and see how she feels.

I think you can still get the tweaker file with adjustable boost from GIAC. Check with the dealer that sold it to you.

Haha I would hate you if I were your warranty company. It will be a fun couple months when your boosting past 20 though. I spike at 20 then taper down to 17/18 now. I am happy with that untill the stage 3 install this summer.

same here. i dont see why people suggest against it.
op; have you logged to see what your ecu is asking for?? ('spec boost')
    maybe you have a leak?
i just read this from giac's site; "Once set it is saved inside the ECU, until you change the setting. You can adjust your boost with the GIAC software switcher or the GIAC Flashloader handheld (mini-computer). "
the software switcher can be used on any laptop with a vag-com cable.

    Re: Up the boost.

if you get money for k04's the day the k03's blow, then speed up the process by dumping a shit ton of oil in, turn up the boost and blow them on purpose.

20psi i think for the stock turbo's is far enough, any higher i think you might run into some other motor issue's. Not sure how the Moetronic ECU's we have work but there's more to worry about than just the turbo's right?
As your increasing boost brings the demands of more Airflow and Fuel not sure where those reach there limits on the stock components but i'd be careful.

Although i could be wrong i'm not a mech. but i remember discussion's like these back in my DSM days

    Re: Up the boost.

Do you have a wideband? What about some sort of program like lemmiwinks to make changes to fuel and timing? Id be worried more about the tuning than the turbos in this case. The motronic ecu's in these cars are amazing, but their cf's will only go so far. Even if it isnt detonating it could be pulling alot of timing which could cause all kinds of other problems. Youll probably only get fuel/throttle cut if youre building boost too fast. Dont rely on the ecu to let you know when it doesnt like something, because alot of times its too late by then.

If nothing else, id suggest pulling your plugs to see what they look like. This is one of the best, and most overlooked ways of telling how your motor likes a certain setup. If you want t do this but dont know how to read plugs then post some pics and ill be happy to do it for you.
