Got chipped... finally!

Well, I finally made up my mind on what chip to get and where... I went with APR 91octane and stock mode. When I left the dealer and was driving home I thought they left it is stock mode, very unhappy. BUT, after driving it around
it started getting faster and faster....A day later I can tell you I am 'very' happy. It is what everyone has been saying...the cheapest investment with the greatest return!
Can someone tell me if there is a noticeable difference between the 91 vs. 93? Only a couple shell stations carry 93 around here so it would be harder to find but if it's worth it, I'll look harder. Actually, 92oct is most prevelant around here as a premium....can you use that with the 93chip?
Anyway.......very happy!

just a slight increase in power...not a big enough difference than going from stock to chip vs 91 to 93 program

If I learned anything from doing mods, its never hesitate to chip or do suspension. It is so worth it you'll wonder why you ever waited!

I have the apr full ecu and I tried the 91 vs the 93 and you can feel the 93 pulls a little harder nothing major but I notice a difference

Also I just got my APR chip installed a couple days ago at my Audi dealer for $748 this was for a full ecu stock,91,93,100 and security lockout

I spoke with a local APR dealer here about which program to install -- 91 or 93 -- since most of the stations I go to have 91 maximum. He suggested getting the 93, since it works just fine with the 91 but can also take advantage of 93 gas if available.

So when I chip mine (hopefully later this year) I intend to get 93.

Congrats! Ya I had the same issue. I was told by APR it takes x-amount of miles till the full software is active. Sure they will chime in. As far as the 93, get it. After awhile you get addicted to the power and 93 wont be enough, so you will go 100, then you will want a BIG turbo. welcome to the addiction my friend. Welcome!

see if you can get the 93 program its a different ... not a huge difference but imo 93 is always better ... youll get more power thats the ultimate goal isnt it

I've noticed that the car accelerates significantly faster, and gets much less fuel cut when the gas tank is under half. You APR guys notice that too?

Thanks everyone....so it seems I'll be going back to replace the 91 with 93.
My biggest concern was just mixing 92oct with 93APR...it appears that's ok in a pinch. I guess I have to replace my DV now as well according to past posts.

Hmm, Now I know how that GTI smoked me at the start a few months back when I thought we had the same 2.0T.......no more!

Super n00b question, but if a dealer installs the APR, does this effect the factory warranty? Secondary question- where can I get this done in the tri-state/Lehigh Valley PA area?

I got my chip installed at Riverside Audi in Nj and they said my car would be covered under warranty without any issues I'm also in Nj L/valley area also they actually even offered me a better deal then any other place around here

Tell me about it! I put it in stock mode yesterday while my car as at the tire shop. It is smooth though!

I am also around the Lehigh Valley.....I went to APTuning because of their
great offer. $499 for (2) programs ....done deal. They were great too, said I can come back for $20something to replace any program with another if I choose.
Think I'll change the 91 to 93 soon! There is another place in Coopersburg which is closer but I got a better deal at APTuning.....Go for it! It's worth it for sure.......

Ya the more of a load the more fuel is needed. Up a hill in 3rd or 4th at or near wot is where I experience most of the cuts.
