Finally Bought an S4!

I finally found the right one! 2001.5 Pearl White w/ black interior. 111k on the clock and feels solid. Only one previous owner and it seems like they took really great care of it. One thing that is bothering me is that I can't figure out if it's chipped. This is going to sound really stupid but I've literally read through every thread that contained "chip" in the subject but I can't seem to find anything that could help me out. Am I chipped??? I don't want to set myself up for disappointment but I opened her up on the freeway and she really can move. I mean, it's not 'HOLY SHIT MOMMY!' but I definitely feel myself being pushed into my seat. I still expected less from a stock setup (or lack of setup haha).

I've already checked the ECU and there's no sticker. Definitely no supporting mods that I can see. Im almost satisfied with this hopefully "stock" ECU but I definitely want to do some weekend driving on an APR or GIAC chip. I imagine that I'll just have to wait for the boost gauge but I was just wishing someone could re-assure me that the car is still quick for stock.

Edit: Also, I THINK I remember reading that stock means the turbos begin to spool at 2500 rpm's. I noticed this is usually when they do and I can also hear them making the slightest whistling noise when I get to the 1500-2500 rpm range. Does the GIAC or APR chip change this?

Congrats man . Check your chip by login your car thru computer. Thats how i found out that mines was chipped, it said garret software oh yeah.

The first thing to do is to install a boost gauge. If you build 14-17psi you are chipped for sure. As mentioned earlier, you can VAG COM to see the brand and version. Good luck!

if it throws u to your seat its chipped. but yes get a boost guage. you will soon get used to the speed and think theres something wrong with it and then the modding will begin. good luck
