Calling all CVT's ... Chime in

My CVT I think is acting up (i think).. I dont know if its the clutch or the belts, or even if thats how it drives.. Basically from a stop, either it takes of slowly or it will shot off like a speeding bullet. There is no "middle ground". Also while driving every once in a while it feels like the car jurks you ( I know thats not the engine). Could it be the clutch? maybe it needs more tranny fluid? Rebuild? -- I just had the fluid flushed about 10k ago.

Ive never had a CVT car, until this one.. Previously I had my 4spd explorer (auto) and 5 spd Lexus rx330 so I dont know if this is how CVT's function.

I'd check the fluid but from the symptoms you mentioned it sounds like the transmission may be toast. One of my transmission hoses sprung a pin sized hole according to the dealer. Audi ended up replacing my trans. The weird thing is that there wasn't any puddle of fluid in my garage, parking lot @ work. First they claim they found the leak and replaced the hose. I drove it and it was totally jerky on the freeway when I would punch it to down shift. They ended up replacing the transmission. There's a post for this exact problem omewhere- search CVT. Good luck.

Does your PRNDS light flash when you try to put it in gear? My cvt had the same symptoms with the jerky shifts around 60k and I also couldn't put my car into reverse at times, but my dealer replaced the TCM and that fixed my problems.
