Anyone catch the riot in Oakland last night?

It was suppossed to be a peachful demonstration over the BART shooting but it turned into a full on riot.

-Millions of dollars in damages.
-Oakland SWAT/ Riot control had to call in BART Police, Alameda County Sheriff, and California Highway Patrol for backup.

I dont know the kid but I was furious about the whole situation. I have a friend that was close to the dude and the whole thing was just tragic. Police brutality sucks and I hate idiot cops like that w/ a passion. Cops are here to protect and lay down the law but a handl full like this bastard just dont belong behind a shield!!!

Anyway... this group of kids from Hayward got into it w/ another group from Oakland. They were suppose to stop, get off the train and throw down at the Bart station. I guess police were notified and pulled both groups off the train. Thats how the whole thing started FYI.

The kid didnt deserve to die like that though. FUCK this cop and I can see where all the rage can boil up and go over. If this cop goes to prison, im pretty sure he'll die there soon enough. But hey, those bastards that whooped Rodney Kings ass got off easy.

The whole thing is a messed up situation. That Bart cop better get in serious trouble or there is going to be more problems.

Obviously, what the BART police officer did is 100% absolutely inexcusable. I saw more than one video of the incident, and there was NO reason he needed to unholster is pistol, AT ALL. I heard in one report that he "accidentally pulled his pistol, which he thought was his tazer." Yea........RIGHT......

Despite the audacity of such a crime, I really don't see what the rioters were hoping to gain from their actions. It has undoubtedly made matters even worse, which is apparent from the shooting victim's mother being brought to tears by the violent outcry, or the organizer of the peaceful march being compelled to leave and watch his own movement unravel from home.

I definitely hope the officer gets what he deserves, which is to be stripped of his badge and thrown in jail. At the same time, I have no sympathy for rioters who choose to take their completely understandable rage and turn it into entirely irrational violence towards innocent shop and establishment owners within the community/area. I just can't help but ask myself.....what the hell is the point of rioting in response to something like this?

One thing is for certain - it is going to be a while before I even touch Oakland with a 10 foot pole.

ha, the bart.gov site mentioned the officer who shot the dude resigned (great way keep from getting fired and still get pension) also the local news specified BART police is the only enforcement force that do not have civilian oversight. The past years, Bart police shot and killed another naked man, shot and kill a man in the back. Internal reviews were done with the officers were said to have done nothing wrong.... Good old boys watching out for each other. If you want to get away with murder, join the Bart police.
