    Pics with Springs

    Hi guys,

I was wondering if anybody has any pics of the B8 A4 w/ H&R springs on them. I am getting a 2.0T w/ 18" sport package and think it may still be a little too high, so wanted to know if the H&R springs are worth it (1.2" fr/1.2 rear)

    Thanks!

    Re: Pics with Springs

Here is a post I crossed referenced a while ago. Unfortunately, the H&R pics are gone but the ABT pics are still there. Just a bit of advice, I have ridden in B8's with H&R springs and H&R coilovers, the difference is significant. The springs are not worth the drop as opposed to ride quality but the coils are. But that's just my opinion. But I have a B8 with sport package and decided to wait for coils instead of getting the springs. Anyway here's the post.

Smart man! A matched spring/shock setup will almost always outperform aftermarket springs on stock shocks. I've made the mistake once before and will never again get anything less than height adjustable coilovers. This is my first set of KW's and they are awesome!

Yeah, I was never really going to get springs, I always get coilovers but the ride confirmed that springs was not for me. Plus who wants blown shocks at 10 miles?

Are the KW's readily available now?

Not sure about KW availability. To be honest, I quit checking as soon as mine finally arrived.

Sevenstarz: is the ride quality that bad with the H&R sprinngs?

I've had Eibach Prokits on my BMW in the past and they never compromised stock ride quality, however, have never had H&Rs.

Of course this is all subjective. My thoughts were, the car looks better lowered with just springs but I felt the ride suffered. Seemed like you are spending 400 dollars to make your ride worse, especially when you remember how good the new B8 chasis rides stock. And one thing about the B8, it rides much better than the B7. The chassis is much improved. When riding in the car equipped with coilovers, which actually sits lower than with springs, the ride was just as good, if not better in some situations. I guess I just think that if you are going to lower, you might as well get a set of shocks to match the springs at least.

I have heard of people using Eibachs springs and not feeling like the ride was compromised but I don't think Eibach's lower as much as H&R. Once again, this is just my opinion. It may be best for you to wait and ride in cars equipped with different setups to judge for yourself. There will be more products coming out for our cars soon but I do understand getting impatient, I am. I usually have my cars lowered as soon as I get them.

    Peace

    Re: Pics with Springs

Yeah, getting a little impatient. I think I'll wait for the Eibachs and go that route, since I've had experience with Eibachs, and they are known to offer quite a similar ride to stock comfort. My previous car was equipped with Eibachs and they were great! Had the car for 5 years and didn't have any issues with the shocks going

The Eibachs actually claim to lower the front by 1.4" and rear by 1.2 " (front is lower drop than the H&R)

    Re: Pics with Springs

I drove the new B8 with h&r springs, KW coilover, and air suspension..
and I wasn't dissapointed about the ride quality of the springs
for the moment these will be fitted when my B8 arrives
afterwards.. after some months they will be replaced by a coilover kit

I don't claim the ride quality is better with springs than coilover, but for the money you give, it sure is worth it..

but still, if it is either more lowering, or quality you are looking for
go for coils.. in the meantime springs will do for me ..

I also think it depends on where your driving, Im in NE(New England) and theres no way I could go with just springs, I mean my B8 is just gunna be a summer car but if I need to move it in the winter time I like the adjustability of coils... plus who doesnt like to get into a limbo competition amoung friends of who can go lower haha...(then someone gets airbags and its all over haha!)
