    New Car...What to get.

Well, it has been a while since I have felt the need to post here on AZ.

For those of you that don't know, I was on a trip from Portland to San Diego and got into a head on collision at the entrance of the 101s on my way to Hermosa Beach.

    My fault.

    Enough said.

Man oh man, how I miss my tricked out B7 avant. Never in my life have I missed having an Audi so much, especially with all the snow the Northwest has been getting this winter.

Anyway, after a year and a half with no vehicle, I'm ready to pull the trigger again.

Of course my initial thought, is Audi, Audi, Audi. However, my brother has a 2008 335xi coupe with nothing but springs and wheels and the thing is a f'ing riot to drive. I feel that BMW offers more bang for the buck right now considering that Audi doesn't have anything over 300hp WITHOUT a V8. I'm not into the V8. I don't want a V8. Period. Then I thought, hm, maybe a tricked out A3 2.0T (mini avant) would be fun. Who knows?!?!

Then, on the other hand, my B7 Avant was so damn fun (with over 7k invested), why not get another?!?! And again, with the new S4 being supercharged, that is an option, although I feel that the 335xi coupe would be cheaper and still perform better.

Any thoughts? I can't sleep at night...

I'm an Audi man by nature and wouldn't dream of driving anything else, however, that 335xi is daaaaaaamn fun.

    Blah blah blah...
What should i get? Ibis B7 Avant? Ibis B8 sedan?

people call me a BMW fan boy, and its probably true, so i would get a BMW.

but, the main point i want to make is that I would try something new rather than put on an old hat.
the B5 S4 is like the mafia... there is only one way out!

yeah, i'm kinda thinking the same thing, but it makes my stomach ache thinking about driving something besides Audi.

how much is that B8 S4 going to run do ya think?

honestly, i'm not too keen on the B8 styling...

still have mad love for the rings though...

what do i use my car for?

well, to make a long story short, day to day errands, driving to the coast, back n forth to home...

i don't track it if that's what you mean...although i would. i'm just not sold on the B8 styling to tell you the truth. i'd rather just rebuild my B7 avant if I decide to go Audi...unless that B8 S4 Avant is affordable and has a MT option...

Are you looking to lease or buy? If you are leasing, then definately 335. BMW lease rates are much more attractive.

    Re: New Car...What to get.

    Buy.

I hadn't given much thought to the TT-S until today. At first I was all jazzed about it, thinking that maybe I had made up my mind. That is until I learned that it isn't even the true quattro system in the car. It's the 4-Motion that VW uses. Weak. Also, the ESP can not be completely disabled. Ultra Weak.

    Audi is disappointing me lately.

    Re: New Car...What to get.

TTs have always used Haldex instead of quattro. Although most prefer quattro it can easily be argued that Haldex is better for launching. What kills me for the TT-S is no manual in the states. DSG is excellent, but it's just not as fun IMO.

Now, back to your original question. Seeing that a fully loaded B8 A4 is $50k, I'd be surprised if you the S wouldn't cost $60k. So, I'd say BMW all the way. Especially considering that a fellow audiziner has the xi and on a race file is making 400awhp!!!

If you dont have time to wait for the b8s4, maybe you can look into the a6 with the tfsi motor. Is a nice car that should be relatively easy to tune. Just an idea, although it seems like you may not want a car that big or luxurious. I personally love my 335, but I really miss the audi interior and would love to get into an s4.
