Re: A little teaser if you can call it that...

That was nice of them to send you that tab. When i got my manifold I received these style tabs which were a pain in the ass particularly the rear tab closest to the cylinder head. I may just remove then and find some turbine hardware with holes in them so I can use lockwire.

Re: A little teaser if you can call it that...

You would bend one end over the edge of the manifold and the other over the nut similarly like you had pictured. It would work but the tab you received is the better design and there is little room to bend the one tab under the manifold. I actually have two tabs bent at the moment. After struggling to get the damn mounting nuts for the manifold on I just gave up on the tabs because of fatigue that day. When I first orderded the manifold tabs were out of stock so I didn't receive any. Those were the ones I finally received but I didn't raise a stink.

no, think about it, when you tighten the hell out of it and you pull the tab over, it would never have a chance to get loose

I have a question for you guys. Does anyone know if it is ok to REUSE the stock bolts for the exhaust manifold? I thought I heard somewhere that the bolts stretch so you cant reuse them. Is this true? thanks alot

ok, no change on the wire connector.

Because of the stupid emissions. If I lived somewhere else in VA like blacksburg I wouldn't be shelling out money for a new cat.

Thats true, you should move to south caralina. I heard that you can run open headers down there.

and another question, does anyone know how much I should torque the 3 bolts that go to the turbo. I dont want to over torque and then strip the turbo.

Im not sure what the exact torque is for them i just tightened them down pretty snug. Your going into cast iron not aluminum so there is less threat of over tightening them. When i tried to take them out for the first time I actually snapped off one of my bolts with a good 1/4 inch still in the turbo so ended up taking it to a machine shop and having them fix that problem. I put antiseiz on the new bolts. You will need a 17 mm box end wrench to get at the bolt in the back thats kind of under the motor head.

Also for the exhaust manifold you asked about bolts, the exhaust manifold is held on with i think 13 12mm nuts. Also when i took the stock header off 2 of the nuts backed out the stud. I just double nutted the stud and carefully put it back in so that it would not cross thread.

You are gone to have a hell of a time getting tight the 2, 3 , 4 and 5 nut from the right (facing the exhaust side of the motor ) with the head on the motor due to the size of the new manifold.

Go get a set of crows feet from sears ( the ones at autozone and advance auto DO NOT have a 12mm ) that will be able to tighten down most of them. There is also a tool i got at autozone i will post a pic of it later that worked really well i just dont remember what it was called.

Have you thought about running the stock manifold first then changing out to see what the difference is ?

I ran the larger one for a while and the boost came in later then with the smaller one. I am assuming its do to exhaust velocity from the smaller runners

With your new throttle body you said you have to tune it with Lemmiwinks. What all do you have to change ? I could see how the idle would be affected but what else since you are using a bigger turbo now anyways ?
