So I took my 07 Sline in for the 25k treatment and the guy said there were 3 open recalls on the car. What is an "open recall" I never recieved anything in the mail about recalls or anything like that. I was late for work so didnt ask him about them but when he calls today to tell me it is done I will inquire to see what they were. Anyone else know what the recalls were for?

Just production or emission changes to anything on the vehicle. As time goes on and more cars are on the road and some problems occur in alot of vehicles they will make a recall to fix it. Could be a flash for diff control modules or soemthign stupid like on the A3's the rear roof trim panels pop up and they want the dealer to install more clips so it doosen't happen. Its to your benefit.

My guess is the tech may have called it a recall (because people know what that is) but that it was really a TSB (technical service bulletin).

TSBs are small fixes that a dealer is supposed to do to any car that hasn't received the remediation specified in the bulletin, even if the car isn't in for a problem related to it. However, TSBs are only REQUIRED to be performed on in warrenty cars and do not require Audi or the dealer to reach out proactivly. They tend to be smaller stuff like quattro16 mentioned, though some OEMs have been known to try to hide something that SHOULD be a recall in a TSB to avoid bad press (Subaru, for example).

A full recall would involve your dealer calling you to let you know to being the car in, and they tend to be larger safety or reliability issues.

I dropped my A3 off yesterday for it's 25k and to get some minor issues looked at. Turns out a rattle in passenger front foot well, that I've been hearing is most likely cause by something that is fixed under a TSB.
