Can someone who bought the ebay cable with the free limited software steer me to a buyer who sells the B7 version. Everyone I found on Ebay said that they weren't compatible with the B7 A4/S4
(409.1)........ I think I need the 503.1 version? Thanks again.

I just am confused as too whcih one to buy... everyone ive seen so far say they arn't compatible with the B7 (05.5+)..... So where is all the B7'ers getting their ebay cable and software from?

Getting a cable from Ross-Tech is worth it. You'll get support, the cable will work with the latest software, and you will have fewer worries. I got the HEX-USB+CAN interface and it has more than paid for itself already.

I agree, with the right one youll get everything you need, and itll work. Plus if it doesnt you can call and get help. And you can do some fun things with little experience with the vag. Or you can buy a generic scan tool that works with the newer B7's.

    Ross-Tech or bust.
Their software is free but it is limited without hardware (cable). License is in their hardware and that's what unlocks the full version of the software.
I've had mine for few years now and I can't even imagine how many times it paid it for itself. Saved others too

Slightly old thread but maybe we should all chip in and get it together? Or maybe I'll just buy it and rent it out for like $10/person? :)

Hey guys to let you know. The 5.5+ S4 uses a different communication line for the ECU then the 2005 and older. So at this time I don't think they are continuing to make these for the new communication lines.

Best bet is to get one of the cheaper ones from Ross tech
If you don't have haters, then you're not kicking enough ass.

JHM powered 12.2 On the JHM Tune With Launch Assist for the Automatic JHM Nitrous kit/JHM headers all this in a Automatic.

And lastly for the grammar police that are bound to step in

That's very good to know as I have a 2005.5.

Which one, exactly, are you referring to? Cheaper one? Link, by any chance? This is seriously so confusing. :(

Get an eBay $10 cable and the shareware with a liecense, $99. Have a play and decide if you require more functionality. If decide you want more then go the whole hog and buy full VCDS package. This is the cheapest start-up and it will only cost $10 for the cable becasue if you decide to upgrade Ross-Tech will knock off the $99 paid for the liecense from the overall cost for the upgrade.

There are some cables out there that you might be able to find that work. But most of them are not set up for the new communication lines of the B7.

So your best option to make sure you have no issues is to go and get the cable right from ross tech
