Hey everyone, just got a 2004 Audi B6 A4 USP in Sept 08 and I love it. First let me say this forum is GREAT. You guys all have some good advice and have "been there done that" with these cars.
Had some work needed to be done and if it wasn't for this forum, I'd be screwed. Took the car to the stealership (now I know why you guys call it that) and got some warranty work done. $1000 for a rear coolant flange, head gasket, cam bearing seal, all under warranty. Was advised to change my rear brakes for $400, check valves and vacuum lines for $984, 2 new tires for $275 each.
So after my stomach settled I picked up the car and jumped on line and read all I could. So I decided to do the work myself. First, let me say to anyone new READ ALL FORUM THREADS pertinent to your situation.
-So I did my rear brakes for $130 and 2 hrs of my time.
-Took my car to a VW dealership my neighbor works at and the techs told me I only had a cracked check valve (#6 from the vacuum diagram)-$18 from VW dealership.
-Obviously took my car to Discount Tires, 2 new 18" w/ warranty-$300.
So now car is running good and one night after Christmas, I was leaving my parents and at a stop light, car starts running like shite. Idling bad, shaking, chugging along. Read forums and took my car to Advance Auto, guy hooked up the comp and voila-misfire in cylinders 2 & 4. Went to my neighbors VW dealership (he works in parts dept) and got 4 new CP for $21 each. (Sorry can't get them bulk, already asked). Got the copper NGK plugs, changed all plugs and CPs and WOW, car runs great!!!
Power comes on in a linear fashion. Turbo lag is minimal, car is soo fast now. Really fun to drive.
All in all, love this car and this forum. You guys are a great resource. Thanks!
