Curbed a rim. What should I do?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I managed to seriously curb one of my rims today. I am pretty bummed and can't decide whether I should replace the damaged rim or order a set of 18" RS4 reps. What do you guys think?

    These are the current set:

Re: Curbed a rim. What should I do?

i would order the new rims...myself, i am not a fan of those
btw are you on coils or springs, cant tell from your sig...
but personally I'd drop the rear a little and get a thinner sidewall tire along with the new rims. cant go wrong with rs4 reps

Re: Curbed a rim. What should I do?

yeah, how bad is it? If you are thinking of getting new wheels, you'll want to consider whether you can sell your current wheels as-is or if it would be worth the investment to have it repaired before trying to selling the set.

Re: Curbed a rim. What should I do?

I'm pretty anal about my rims and have had quite a few refinished, max I ever paid was 125$ for a rim, definitely worth it if you find a good place to do it. However, RS4 reps would look a lot better on your car.

Re: Curbed a rim. What should I do?

Got shipping quotes from a couple of the replica companies, since you pay to ship everything to Hawaii. It'd be and extra $220 for one company and $180 for the other, on top of the cost for the rims. I gotta figure it out. I do want to change the look, but don't have the capital at the moment.

Here are some pics of the damage. Excuse the blurriness, forgot the change the settings on the camera:

Thanks man, I might try this, but we'll see. The chrome looks like a trim or something, so this may not work. These were cheap wheels, since shipping to Hawaii is murder. It was like $500 for the wheels and tires.

I don't think that your scrap is that bad but I'm not a real fan of those wheels so I guess its just up to you. Why not just keep them like that for now until you can get a new set?

pffffffttt.... hahahaha... "that ain't even a flesh wound..."

You can get that fixed for cheap... Wheels of America will do it for 165 but you can easily find a shop to do it for much less or use that link above... or... maybe you're just making an excuse to get some new dubs

Re: Curbed a rim. What should I do?

dood since you paid so cheap for the wheels and to fix it probably cost as much as a new rim, you should jus buy another wheel and use that one as a spare??

I would have to agree with the rest of the people. Sell those rims and get a new set of rims. Either that or if you wanted to change up the look, send those out and get that chrome painted black.

Wow! You all really don't like his rims. I'm going to have to agree with the others. I think you can do better. RS4 reps always look decent.

I've never been a fan of chrome rims, or rims that have way too many spokes. Part of the reason why I'm not a big fan of the titanium rims....

I saw the thread... The O.Z.'s. In the end, it's your car and ultimately my opinion doesn't really matter, or at least it shouldn't.

Those are the same type of rims that many rally EVO's use, right?

I'm really not sure. But you're right. It's my car and my opinion is what counts. But everyone is entitled to their own! You getting any wheels soon?

I've been looking at some BBS CH's rims. I just hate how high my car is though, but given the conditions I HAVE to drive back home, just to get to my house, I know I WILL rip off a bumper if I drop it on coils. I'm thinking I might just have to get some H&R springs and some shocks and call it good.

The Proxes are great, still perfect. Didn't have any trouble during the rains this year.

Re: Curbed a rim. What should I do?

you have replicas of my wheels Who cares if people don't like them, I didn't want to be one of the 99% that run rs4 reps and blah blah whatever else because it's boring.

Figure out what a new wheel would cost, and consider buying another. Keep that one as a spare, or else swap the tire and turn the curbed wheel into a table or something I have a 19" Rial Daytona Race wheel I'm going to turn into a small table for my garage this summer...
    Ignorance is bliss.
