2010 S4 vs 2009/2010 A6

So what do you guys think about the new A6 with the 3.0T? Being that that A4/S4 chases has been redesigned for more rear leg room its become more of a competitor with the A6. Which one would you chose and why? Personally I like the A6 for its larger MMI screen, the MMI controls also look like they're the soft ones I'm used to on my current cars (I really like those). The S4's MMI controls look nice but they feel a little bit cheaper and the black trim again while looking nice is prone to scratching. But why the hell is the CD player still stuck in the glove box? I hope it's like the A8 and still allows for an iPod player as well. Do you guys think the S4 will be able to outperform the A6 quite a bit or will it be fairly close? Also can't forget the S4 has 40:60 Quattro. The S4 will have nice seats (and I love those white dials in the cluster) but with the S-Line pkg the A6 along with the LED fronts and tails will still have a nice sporty look to it. I figure the A6 with similar options will cost probably 5 grand more then the S4 but that's a complete guess. I can't wait to compare the MSRP for a loaded S4 vs A6.

The S4 is and always will be nimbler than the bigger body A6. But overall, I think A6s respond well to mods and should not be overlooked in the handling dept.

Overall, the A6 will be more baller IMO... and is still a great car to drive.

^^^haha. The A6 is a larger chassis with more and heavier equipment. The A6 will be heavier than the S4 and therefore slower.

Shit I forgot all about that. Well if it turns out to be much slower that might be a deal breaker unless the price can swindle me. I will not be modding the engine no matter what I get. Kinda wierd Audi is doing this with the hp, they never detuned the 4.2 in the C6.

I like the A6 2.7T vs. the S4 2.7T the best. They really made both of those cars good and a chipped A6 could probably keep up with a stock S4.

chipped A6 2.7t would destroy a stock s4. The weight difference is only a couple hundred pounds

Also the difference is the gearing, but A6 is not thaaat far.;)

From what I've read / seen the S6 isn't really better at all and the 4.2 engine is :( to tune. So if you want luxury and racing get the A6 2.7T with a chip and you're set.

we're talkin '09 and '10 and besides the s6 comes with v-10, not 4.2. buy it n drive it, no chip req'd.

If you are taking about the C6 A6, it is the same engine as the 4.2 in the s4 it make slightly less power because the exhaust is more restrictive. It's rated at 330-335hp.

They're comparing the 3.0T (Supercharged) platform.

Even if they have similar power, the S4 is still going to feel much more nible and performance focused. The A6 will be roomier and much more luxury focused. You want a sport sedan get an S4. You want to give up some performance for a larger more luxurious car, get an A6.

I just had to bump this, if the gearing is different where it will make an improvement, why has no one ever talked about the compatibility of the differentials in both cars?? It might prove to be a great mod! In my BMW I had swapped from a 3:46 to a 3:91 and the acceleration difference was great!

I have no need for rear leg room (if I did I'd take the A8L) so even the current S4 is plenty comfortable for me. I just like the A6 for its luxurious surfaces and bigger MMI screen. But there's really no way I'm going to pay more for that if I'm losing 30 horsepower while getting all that extra weight. Hey any word about the S6/S8? I wonder what's in stock for their next facelift.

P.S. I did have my eye on the TT-S as well but for the price the interior just felt a little too cheap for me. And fuck Haldex!
