    Vag-Com ? Need answer!

My vag com won't be here until next week. On the way home today, my CEL came on out of nowhere. Car didn't act weird at all.

My question is, I have a "dongle" and USB cable from my Cobb Access port from my STI. The dongle plugs in to the Audi, but I havent tried it to see if it works. Will I mess the car up if I try this?

I found this on ross-tech's page:

    However, if you're using a "low-tech" interface,
in other words anything other than
a HEX, KEY or Micro-CAN series interface,
Click here for for our download archives page
where you'll find older versions for "dumb" interfaces.

If it is safe to try with the AP dongle, and which version should I try?

I want to try it, but my main concern is f***ing the car up worse than it might be.

    Thanks, Alex.

You wont fuck up the car bc the interface used to communicate with your sti wont even touch the audi, more than likely. You have a b6, and I have a cable for you. 15 bucks, shipped. PM me.

Can someone tell me if the Vag-com plug looks like this with the metal contacts.

Ever since 1996 ALL cars are required to have the OBDII style connector.

It will connect and should work. Once you install the driver for the cable take note of what COM port number it installs as. Then downlaod Version 409.1 from the Ross-tech website. Then when vag com is open and connected to your car configure it to use the COM port your driver installed it as.

Post up your code(s) once you pull em.
