    Cannot get my rims clean

I posted this in the wheel and tire forum but with no luck. anyways, i suffered a back injury late last year which doesnt allow me to wash my car every week. my car looks like poop and i will never take it to a car wash place. i had a friend come over and wash my car for me and it seems that the brake dust on my rims is caked on. with soap and water, there are still spots where i cant get it off the rim. on iforged's website it says dont use anything besides soap and water. is there anyway to get the dust off without having to refinish my rims? also is there anything i can put on to coat them so its easier to wipe off? thanks in advance

I use Super Clean (water based degreaser not unlike simple green) on my wheels. wheels, more so with OEM ones, have a durable finish on them which is hard to damage short of taking steel wool to them.

I would look into P21s Gel from Detailers Domain. Itll be stronger than soap and water, but its safe for all wheels. After you clean them, apply a sealant.

Re: Cannot get my rims clean

I have P21S wheel gel, and have also specifically talked to the reps at P21S and they have stated it can be used with any type of rim, including super old school ferrari rims (Todd over on Autopia found this out), and cleared, gelled, and anodized rims as well.

I would definitely contact Phil at DD for the product.. it is a bit pricey ($25-30 for 1000ml) but well worth it for the quality.

You can use any paint sealant you want.
