What OEM or repl wheels to use for winters / chains?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have an S-line Titanium Avant, and I want to get a set of winter wheels because I cant stomach putting chains over those Anthracite wheels.

Question is what OEM or replica beaters will fit the S-line suspension and brakes setup and have enough clearance for cable chains if I have to use them?

Please read below it you want to hear my rant about chains and why this is an issue to begin with:>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

OK so you may be wondering why anyone would need chains on the quattro or if you are in the great white north where I grew up snowbanking my rear wheel drive beater...... why you need chains at all in Cali especially if you lived in MN where they are not allowed?????

Answer: I now live in Los Angeles and when I drive to ANY mountain area (BigBear. Mammoth, Tahoe) it's like the apocalypse of tire chains paranoia disaster. CHP requires chains as a knee jerk reaction to the flood of morons who saddle up to "go see the snow". I mean I'm just trying to go snowboarding, and I'm trying to go as hassle free as possible. I want to be able to float thru the chain checkpoint with my beater wheels and Blizzaks and a set of "emergency chains in the trunk. But on rare occasions they require ALL vehicles to chain up. No shit.

Before you all start with the "L.A.? they don't get snow in L.A.!" snaps, just look up the Donner Party and get with the reality of the fact that we have real mountains here and real snow. I'm talking High Sierras. High Desert, Tahoe etc.

It actually snows in the hills around LA a few times a year. Like above 2000 feet. I know it did a few weeks ago. Cali is known for getting some of the worst snow storms in the country. I know I've seen a few storms dump about 10 FEET of snow in a weekend in the Sierras, combined with 120 mph winds.

you can get 16" 5 spokes, 5 spoke 17s (single or dual), or 18" 5 spoke s-lines. The 16 or 17s would work better in the snow and with chains IMO

All of those wheels are OEM on the b7 and will clear stock anything

Thanks! that was my guess, and the info I needed. Just wondering due to the number of people running spacers etc. Sweet.

They run spacers to widen the stance and make the wheel face even with the fender for a better look
