APR Announces B8 A4 Development

Hello Everyone!

I am pleased to present our plans for B8 A4 development to AZ'ers first!

We have been working diligently on our ecu upgrade and it will be available for both the manual and tiptronic transmission equipped chassis.

We plan to move forward with a full exhaust system and carbon fiber ram air as our next development exercises.

I apologize that I am not able to release further info at this point but I will update this thread as time progresses and the releases draw near.

Great to hear R&D is in the works. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with! If you decide to go with a dual exhaust setup for the 2.0T, please make it quad tip. IMO, the single tip per muffler looks too stock.

I think it was already presumed that you would have products for the B8. We need times when these products will be available.

Not trying to be harsh but alot of us are waiting for your products, I think that is a good thing.

I wish it was an S4! I absolutely love the B8, another outstanding improvement on the previous generation.

Calibration Update:

This engine is torquey! We have completely understood the control strategies for valve lift and are able to capitalize on the new technology with outstanding torque increases. We are exploring its affect on fuel economy and hope to be able to increase mpg a bit as well.

The turbocharger seems to spool very, very quickly and peak torque is being made in very low rpm's. A conservative wastegate duty cycle is allowing for higher boost pressures than usually achieved on the 2.0T as the rpm's increase. Typically, the oem turbo's found on the 2.0T will taper rather dramatically by redline but the new IHI for the B8 is holding very well.

We have accomplished fuel and boost settings and are working to optimize to mean best torque throughout the powerband.

We have tested for exhaust gas temperatures during high load situations and have accomplished a range of environmental testing as well. We have spent quite a bit of time on this new calibration and are very excited by the results.

This new 2.0T is going to make the power increases of the previous 2.0T engines look like that of a 1.8T! If I am able, I will post a teaser graph a little later.

Sounds very promising, I think teasing us with info like this is better than that photo above.

Can you at least give some comparison of the results you are currently seeing vs. the GIAC results posted earlier? Will there be a different flash for the 6MT and do you have any ETA for that development?

2-3 weeks maybe up to 6. Once the calibration is finalized and thoroughly tested we'll need to finish encryption, security and program switching.

The warranty isnt affected by a retune is it? Im sure it isn't, but I keep remembering somebody being declined service because the dealer found out the car was retuned..?

An ecu upgrade will void your warranty if discovered.

Due to the policies of some dealerships, the aftermarket is forced to hide their products from them.

We do this by offering the ability to change back to your exact oem stock programming via your factory cruise control before you go to the dealership. This way its 100% technologically impossible for them to discover your ecu has been modified in any way.

The alternative is to find a mod friendly dealer and lot's of dealership are moving in this direction because they want to be able to continue to sell Audi's. Just ask your service writer what they think about ecu upgrades. Every dealership is different.

Here's a video of how our program switching works with the oem cruise control stock. Its from a VW CC but will be very similar in the A4 as well.

One question: do you guys recommend us to change the dv to the new one or the forge one before getting our cars chipped?

I've never seen a G valve blow up on any of the cars here. This includes every race car, stage 3, k04, stage 2+, stage 2, stage 1, stock. That being said, there is a new OEM valve out that has no diaphragm.

FWIW I cant see any reason to spend more on a non OEM valve. I mean, if you ever did have a problem down the road, you can just get the latest OEM revision for next to nothing in comparison.

Wow, that torque figure is awesome, over 300 at the wheels? Did I get that right? I drove the B8 A4 as a loaner for a few days and rather impressed with the stock performance. I have multiple APR products on both of my Audi's and love them, keep up the great work! It's probably time to look at trading the 2.7T in for a B8
