Just 'cause I haven't posted headlight update pics in a few days...

Ready for final sand-down, tab-hole cut out, then clear coat.
Internals will go back in in the next few days. Still waiting on my LED's to arrive.
Grilles almost done. Headlight casing isn't the straightest of weave, but in general it can't be seen and I only did it because I had scrap cloth lying around. I was more worried about the tabs than anything. The rest is just bling. I'm sure it won't be up to Winston's standards.

Here is my front grille trim and rings, where the weave is more precise:

Here are some test-fit updates. Remember, this is only a test....

Some parts aren't sanded, some aren't clear-coated. Others (like black trim along bottom and sides) haven't even been overlayed yet until my LED's are in.

Re: Just 'cause I haven't posted headlight update pics in a few days...

Thanks. It's hard to see that the stuff that is clear-coated is really matte. The Audi rings trim shows it the best. But I couldn't get good pics of the headlight. Flash made the CF look gloss except for parts that aren't sand or coated yet.
Which makes it look too busy with CF. It is more tame in person and the gloss is taken away.

You nuts? It's pouring rain out there, lol. I'm kind holding off on those until the whole front is done, anyhow. The front end is pretty much in pieces right now and I had to put bumper back on just to test fit the headlights.
    In due time.

Near as I can tell, somewhere between China and Pittsburgh. They shipped last week. There was extra time involved because they installed individual resistors on each LED for me. I'm hoping to dive in to that this weekend if they show up. Once they go in, then the rest of the overlay will be done on that bottom trim piece, and the small cut-outs at the bottom of the two projector trims will be covered by the LED strip portion.

Due to spacing, and how the projectors sit, I was toying with this LED idea. Thoughts?

Re: Just 'cause I haven't posted headlight update pics in a few days...

Yeah, me too. But there is more space to the center of the high beam than there is between the low beam and the turn signal.
I may toy with moving the whole projector assembly over to make more room, but I don't want to screw up the beam pattern.

Don't do the LEDs on the inside though, I think it will make the car look cross-eyed. Especially with only the LEDs on.

Because the single LED's I have coming are larger than the ones I'd used in this pic, they may be a bit big. It is very tight between the turn signal and the low beam. I am still pushing for this as my number one choice, though. The cheap knock-off strip I used in the design is very thin and uses tiny LED's, so it fits much easier.
We'll know how it flows once the LED's arrive. I'm crossing my fingers it still fits and flows well.

No idea. I have a gallon of it. And I realized quick that not much is needed. i still have 3/4 of a gallon left and all I need to resin now is my splitter. I got it on eBay. It's listed as CF-specific, UV resistant, and heat resistant. Hope I didn't buy snake oil. We'll see. I am using high-heat and UV resistant matte clear (4 coats for depth) also.

I'm also thinking of the straight-across the bottom pattern, however I'm trying to find a way to make it unique, since anyone with a hack saw can do that DIY. I just wanted to be a little different but still keep an Audi style, but I have my doubts that the space between the low beam and the turn signal is enough for the S5 style to look right with the LED's I have coming.

There's nothing wrong with the straight across style like the TT-S. Don't "force" the curved design into a B6 headlight if it wasn't meant to be.

Yeah, you're right. I've gotten a few responses that have said pretty much the same thing. I guess what will be "unique" at this point is the dual projectors and the CF. So what if the LED pattern is roughly the same as every other DIY out there. I just didn't want to look like every hack job that throws in some DIY LED's.

In this pic, you can see how little space there is in between the low lens and the turn signal. It just won't work. The LED pattern would be cool, but if you looked at the whole housing with the LED's off, it just wouldn't work in a spatial-sense. In prior design stages, I was toying maybe curving up all the way at the edge.

I think even with the straight-across TT-S style, I've got a few tricks that will separate it from the rest of the DIY's. It'll work. Thanks for the influence all.
