Need help narrowing down my prob...

So I have been having some problems starting my car and I cant figure out the problem... is did a battery check and its bad, alternator is good, but when I go out to start my car some days it takes a minute and other days just aint going to happen, I go to school in Montana and have noticed the colder the harder it is to start up, CEL is on and the scanner at Autozone isnt picking up my car, says its no responding...need help!

No, I haven't installed a new one yet I am currently on the road and should have a new one by this weekend.

So threw in a new bat and my CIL is still on, would a bad bat throw off the CIL?
