So my mounts should be here any day from 034; is there an actaul diy out there anywhere for these or do they come with instructions?

Re: Motor and Tranny Mount ?

Doing the install is pretty straight forward. Just loosen the old ones, jack up the engine/trans, remove and replace.

there is a DIY on here in the DIY forum for the motor mounts

the trans mount is common sense, just keep taking bolts out lol

Thanks guys that's what I figured but thought I would ask. If there is a diy for the motor mounts though it's not there anymore; or I'm just blind.

Re: Motor and Tranny Mount ?

Step one- Cut a hole in the box
Step two- Put your junk in that box

    Oh, wait, wrong DIY.

It's simple. For motor mounts- Take off snub mount. Take off nuts from old motor mounts (one top, one bottom, on each). Loosen tranny mount bolts. Put a board or something under oilpan so jack doesn't puncture it. Jack up engine off of mounts. It goes up pretty far, no worries. The hoses behind the intake mani and all may even touch the firewall. Remove old motor mounts. Place new ones in. Have second person SLOWLY lower engine while you maneuver the mounts so engine fits down over top of both. This is the only semi-tricky part but isn't hard. Just watch your fingers and make sure second person has good feel for jack. Then, put nuts on. Re-install snub. Do not tighten bolts for motor mounts, snub, or tranny mount until all are installed. Then you need to idle engine and rev it a few in neutral so engine finds it's center. Then shut off engine and tighten down all bolts to spec. This helps avoid anoying vibrations. If you have bad vibrations after install, then loosen bolts and idle/rev engine again and then re-tighten all nuts/bolts. Done. I have street motor and track tranny and have NO more noticable vibration than when stock.

For tranny mount, as mentioned, just use common sense. It is harder than the morot mounts, and the 034 can be tricky because it doesn't have a notch in it like the stock one that shows the angle the mounts sits at.
If you have problems, take a pic and post it with question. I'm sure many of us who've done it will be happy to answer.

Re: Motor and Tranny Mount ?

Lee has it down, its a easy DIY, i didnt have any trouble...

on the tranny mount, i found it easy to bolt up the mount to the tranny bracket then bolt the completed assembly to tranny then install the crossmember loosely and push it up onto the studs on the mount and torque those two together then crossmember/subframe bolts last (thats after doing it twice since my center and side stud were snapped off)

I went thru this write-up before; it assumes your mount is removed.. doesn't answer my question !

Re: Motor and Tranny Mount ?

One detail to add, I recommend tightening the mounts with the engine idling, otherwise the shut down jerk will move the engine trans off center. You can tighten enough to prevent movement, then shut off the engine and torque the mount fasteners completely.

Re: Motor and Tranny Mount ?

Just finished the work; replaced tranny mounts & increased my idle speed by 40rpm (from 760 to 800).

The result? The car is Vibration FREE! GONE!

I found the easiest way to install the new snub is to push it on until you hit the little lip then set the snub on the ground and bang on the back of it with a rubber mallet. I have heard stories of people doing it with a regular hammer and bending the screw hole.

Side question: Is the snub mount bracket nessesary or can you just change the mount itself?
