I typically hear pretty good things about seibon... of course, i typically only hear about seibon from the honda boys. Not passing judgment, just havent heard of anyone outside of that group using seibon products.

Broski, i searched all over, best price I found SHIPPED, mostly its 700 shipped or more anywhere else...This is the only place I found with free shipping and a 560$ price...Insurance is paying for it, i just cant afford eurogear(which truthfully i like this one not having any holes in the hood for hangers/clips)

i believe you might need to run hood pins, thats what their site said as well as VIS. I am not certain if you can run them without. Eurogear, you def need hood pins.

If you read uptop, I DO NOT WANT HOOD PINS at all...I think its tacky and unless you really need them pointless. The Seibon as well as some others work with the factory latch and very OEM.

They say on the link that they highly recommend the use of hood pins. The reason for this is that at higher speeds the latch can rip off due to the air running under the edge of the hood and creating tremendous lift. If you don't go fast then you would probably never need them, but you'll never see your max speed again. The hoods that don't require them at all have extra reinforcements for this exact reason. I don't know enough about this particular hood so I can't vouch for the construction of the latch attach point. Good luck with it.

agreed, hood pins are very functional. they prevent what barkerd said.

I am running the aerolatch pins, very stealthy. The only hood I know that doesnt need hood pins is vorsteiner. My buddy has it and we have gone well over 120 MPH and no problems.

Its simple, lighter the hood requires hood pins, heavier hoods might not. If you install the hood and when you drive over 80MPH and the hood looks like it is vibrating, than get hood pins, else you might be safe.

That's assuming you consider a cf hood an upgrade... the weight savings are trivial and the aesthetics are ..........to each his own.

I am glad to hear that others haven't had problems with that hood. I just didn't wanna see a thread on here saying a cf hood flew off and broke your windshield. I hope it fits well and I wanna see some pics. I am in the market for a cf hood too and if this one works for you at speed and fits well I may go this route.

Sounds like salesman talk to me.. make it vague so they don't have to be responsible. If hood pins are really not needed, why would they recommend them for safety?
I've heard seibon hoods are kinda heavy cause its mostly for looks, but I would still use hood pins just in case.

A friend of mine, used to be a prominent member of this forum- had this happen to him with an OEM-style CF hood for his B7 at the time. Which was why he went with pins to lock it down any why lots of pics of that car now has hood pins.
