I bought my 98 A4 2.8Qtip from a dealer that specializes in vw/audi/volvo/and bmws back in late april of last year. The price seemed too good to be true as I bought it for $7070 after taxes with only 90k on the engine. I took the car for a test drive and thought to myself right away that I loved how the car handles. Not realizing till to this day there's several things the dealer hadn't mentioned, that was wrong with the car and so it's cost me a lot of money to fix. My word of advice to you, try and find one through a private owner first, OR a dealer with a good reputation.

Saying that ALL used car dealers try to rip you off is painting with too broad a brush. As a consumer, you need to be aware of the tricks they might try, educate yourself as to the vehicle you are purchasing, and pay an independent AUDI mechanic to look it over for you (around $150). If the dealer won't let you take it to an indy, keep looking.

    It's a buyer's market right now.

^ You sound pretty young so I think they're doing you a big favor.

If you do your research, 99% of the time you can find better deals with private sales. Research as in, knowing what to ask, what to look for and what to get (service records/reciepts, inspections).

I bought mine from there years back. It had a couple little things they failed to mention (electrical stuff). They guy doesnt really like to budge on prices either. I got mine in 2002 with 67k on it for 9k.

Don't ever buy a car that's been hit. Trust me... If you aren't completely happy with the car don't buy it. Just wait until you find one that you really want.
