    Octane Booster-Track Days

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am planning to do some Track Days shortly and I have been recommended to add Martini-super octane booster in the fuel.

I currently run my R8 on 98ULP and was wondering if anyone has tried any octane boosters and if they are of any benefit or just a gimmick.

    Thanks

you really don't need octane booster in your R8... The car is already fast! Just put your normal high octane in it...If it's not chipped just get the car chipped and make sure you get the right software for the right octane level...but again...you really really DONT need octane booster...it's a new engine/new car you DONT need that chemical crap in your engine!! ps it's not that healthy for your injectors/filter/pump/lines..... Also could possibly cause a check engine light...

It will not do anything for your car. Only thing octane booster is good for is if you are out somewhere and there isnt your cars recommended octane fuel available. You want to run your vehicles recommended octane, anything higher or lower will hurt performance.

    Re: Octane Booster-Track Days

the only kind of octane booster is higher octane gas. the stuff you buy at autozone and walmart(or whatever chains there are in australia) raises it usualy by 5-7 "points"

so if you put 93 in there and the octane booster you'd end up with 93.5 or 93.7 ect... which of course is *nothing* and very mis-leading, and expensive considering the 7 point stuff usualy cost $8-9 and higher octane gas usualy costs less for a whole gallon! That's not even mentioning that you shouldn't be running anything higher than 15% MTB's in your gas anyway. If you want to run pump gas and kick it up a bump, go to the paint store and get a gallon or two of toluene(114 octane) and mix that with however ratio you want for a higher octane.

see if you can get race fuel. Its 100-110 Octane.

They usually sell this at the track.

    That'll def boost it

Race fuel will not do anything but harm your car if you arent running either higher compression or forced induction, and you need to be tuned for that. Run what its recommended your car is still stock

No need for octane booster. Run it on your standard high octane fuel.
