    Re: best snub mount

I think if you were to do a poll on here, Audiworld, and on the Vortex, you'd probably find that more people run the APR one than any other mount. We've sold hundreds of the APR mounts with not so much as a single complaint. I personally run one in my A4 and have never had a problem with its vibration or anything like that. A 4-year old could install it, too. They're very easy to put in.

    Re: best snub mount

I think that's more due to the fact that the 034 mount came out in the last year or so, while the APR mount has been around for much longer.

    Re: best snub mount

AFAIK 034 is the only one that makes a bracket that the snub slides into...
    http://www.034motorsport.com/product...l6pabd8fc5dq55

The stock snub 'bracket' area lets the mount flop around a bit, whereas the 034 bracket holds it snug.

    Re: best snub mount

The APR one cracked on a couple people. The 034 is the way to go. You should be able to get a slight discount if you order from AZ member Issam@034 (send him a private message and inquire). I just bought the 034 snub mount and actually sent Issam a PM a couple minutes ago to inquire cost of the bracket.

I've been running the APR snub mount on my Avant for three plus years now with no problems. I do always look at it for any signs of cracks when I'm working on my car though.

Based on what I know today about 034's mount I would get theirs, canx your APR order if you are not sure.

    Re: best snub mount

Since the 034 snub/bracket is such a tight fit, it did cause noticeable vibrations in my car (even when properly adjusted) especially under 1000 rpm. but if you want a really locked down drivetrain, it's a must.

Very correct. With no movement at all there will be vibration transfered to the frame. The stock housing allows for some movement during idle but when tq is applied the front of the engine isn't going to move all that much, it will just twist but it shouldn't twist all that much if the person is running upgraded engine/tranny mounts.

Funny thing is at one point my car was running with no snub at all when I picked it up from 034, this is because the snub mount would not line up correct with the 034 bracket I had. After getting it home I was able to get the stock housing back on and went back to my Stern mount which is slightly softer then the 034 snub. Both the Stern and 034 snubs are great products.

So with Stern snub, 034 motorsport engine/tranny mount I get pretty much no movement of the engine as seen in the video on the dyno. I also get zero vibrations from the engine at idle.

I have the the 034 snub/bracket too and have the same vibration especially under 1000 rpm. IMO the snub may be a little softer.

I like the APR snub on my car. Slight increase in vibration is the only down side. On the plus side, smoother shifts and the motor feels a little more buttoned down. Even my wife noticed the smoother shifting.

    034

As far as installation, make sure it is installed correctly. There are DIY somewhere at audiworld.com or audidiy.com. Look around. Also, once you put the new mount in don't bolt everything back right away. Start the car ( I even drove a bit by securing just 2 top bolts on so the whole front wouldn't come out.) Now, there is very little vibration.

    Re: best snub mount

The 034 uses their own housing partially because they use an old Rabbit snub mount. It's a standard Prothane part designed for the MkI Rabbits/Jettas. Never intended for use with the Audi's.

Stern, APR, Apikol are all designed around the Audi, and thus don't need the extra housing, since they're larger than the stock sizes. The Prothane mount is actually smaller in diameter than stock.

My PureMS snub mount is the same size as the Prothane one that came with the 034 kit. It's the red one, I don't think you sell it anymore.
