I have a 2008 S4 Avant, tip, with about 12,000 miles on it; bought it new. I have been driving it regularly until about 3 days ago cause needed to use SUV. So it sat in the drive for 2 days I think. I started it once yesterday and ran it for about 30 seconds just to move it. Today, when I tried to start it, it almost wouldn't fire. It took 3 tries to start it and when it did start, it was missing and shaking like crazy. I revved it just enough to keep it going and it finally gradually smoothed out and has been OK since on restarting several times today. The CEL never did come on. Any ideas what that heck that was about?

Its a new car. Call the dealer for a loaner and have roadside assistance pick it up.

yep call dealer and tell them it's broken.. They should pick it up and give you a loaner.. Don't invest anytime investigating, it's there problem to fix... New car warranties can be fun!

    Re: Now what?

If the issue continues to happen then make sure you get it to the dealer. If this happened just once and you want to make your self feel better that there is nothing super wrong with your car. Then

If it is cold where you live the car runs super rich in the cold weather. So if you start your car only for a few seconds move it and shut the car down in cold weather you can damage the plugs. Even one or two times doing this can cause an issue. Also depending on weather the car was out side you may have had the throttle body adaption running. This has happened to me before. The car will sputter for a sec and then run fine.

Now Im not saying that either of these DEFFINITLEY happened just helping give a few reasons why it might have happened. As I said if the car is still having the issue then get it to the dealer. If it was a one time thing you should be ok
If you don't have haters, then you're not kicking enough ass.

And lastly for the grammar police that are bound to step in
I came here from Germany in the 6th grade. I could not read or write a lick of English. I am working to get better. Thanks and sorry. I always try to edit my posts for the best grammar and easiest reading.
