    Just hit 70,000 maintence Q

    just hit 70k
I was wondering if now would be a good time to bring my car in for a full checkup because I want to make sure it's running good for another 70k. Is now a good time to replace air filter, spark plugs, tranny fluid?
what would be a good route to ensure my car is going run top notch? thanks!

Most importantly, you're almost at the point of needing to get the timing belt done, do that and get it over with including the waterpump at the same time. People might say they're at 90k without changing the belt but it's a crapshoot that it doesn't fail. Why take the chance on something so important?

When was the last time you changed the sparkplugs? The oem plugs last a long time, but not that long. A lot of the members here including myself use copper plugs and change them out with every oil change.

A lot of it depends on what maintenance has been done in the past and at what intervals. Is this first maintenance you've done on the car other than oil changes?

(assuming these thing haven't been done in the relatively recent past)

I would do the timing belt (tensioner and all, not just the belt) and water pump for sure. I'd check the plugs, air filter, cabin filter, brake fluid, pads, rotors. Each of these things would be changed on an as needed basis. I'd also check your valve cover gasket and cam tensioner gasket for leaks. Replace if you see any seepage.

I'm sure there are other things I'm forgetting, but those come to mind immediately.

    Air Intake Filter
    Cabin Filter
    Brake Fluid Flush
    Fuel Filter
Spark Plugs (every 40k, that what I was told)
And as everybody keeps on saying (even to me) Timing Belt

Do what it tells you to do in the maintenance book (assumming you have one) and evreything that wasn't done before that needs to be done. The book won't tell you but plan on a timing belt change in the next 10K miles

Re: Just hit 70,000 maintence Q

I bought the car with 60k I do not know what has been done to it, but timing belt I'm sure is something i will have done soon. Is an Audi dealership the only place that'll do that? Isn't it like $1,500?

Spark plugs, oil change, and air intake filter is something I can change myself that is pretty cheap but outside of that I do not know much about the car.
I think I may drop it off and just say go to town

Due to the cost associated with dealer repairs, I would avoid taking it there. If you can find a reputable mechanic in your area they should be able to do it for significantly less. I'm sure there are some people on here that are relatively close to you that may be able to recommend a good shop.
