    Upgrade from sport suspension

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've been lurking AZ for a while now on the fence between wanting to keep my car stock and doing some modding. Last week I fell off the fence and put on new wheels (thanks VMR) and the revo ECU tuning.

I have a 2008 s-line A4, and I'm finding that the sport suspension is so loose that when I have people in the car with me its riding so low in the back that I get pretty bad rubbing. It's even worse when going around turns, so it seems that I have an excuse to upgrade my suspension now..

Looking for a suggestion on what to buy here, I don't want to go crazy but I'm sick of the rubbing already. My other question is how much I should expect to pay for installation - I'm going to do the RS4 rear sway bar at the same time hopefully.

Here's a pic of my ride so far - first one here on AZ:

    Re: Upgrade from sport suspension

so what exactly are you asking here... for spring/shock suggestions?

    bilstein/h&r sport springs
    bilstein/neuspeed sport springs

    are some pretty common combos

or you might perfer a more conservative drop like eibach which is a little lower than OEM sport but should give you a nice comfortable yet stiff ride

sounds more like what I'm looking to do, any pics of how low it would be?

    Re: Upgrade from sport suspension

i personally dont have them.. but just search eibach springs and you should find a ton of pictures..

from what your saying, eibach sounds about perfect for you. its just slightly lower than oem sport, but will give you a better street feel performance wise.. and eibach is top of the line so you know your getting a great product

    Re: Upgrade from sport suspension

    Hah, here it goes then.

I just picked up a new setup from Stasis, which is a shock/spring combo they call their "Touring" suspension. It offers what you seem to be looking for - its firmer and vastly improves handling, ride quality is much better/more comfortable than stock (imo), and it lowers the car nicely. Some have difficutly noticing it being lower than stock sport, which you have, but it definitely is. I personally think it's the perfect amount.

If you wanna be able to adjust the ride height (which most people think they need but really dont), you can opt for more expensive but customizable coilovers.

My setup ran $725 for parts, and then add install at a local shop (the rate for which you'll wanna go get estimated on labor for replacing 4 shocks).

Here's some shots on stock wheels to show you the look/stance:

You also sit about 4 inches off the ground (I think it's sexy though). If he's putting a lot of people in the car and is worried about rubbing, I don't think coilovers are the way to go.

What do you guys think about spring shock combos from MJM? http://www.mjmautohaus.com/catalog/i...6193_6827_7631

Are those shocks designed from lowered springs?

    Re: Upgrade from sport suspension

Koni Yellows have a lifetime warranty, which is always good, but it depends on what your need/want is. Personally, i go for adjustable height, but I like to tinker with my cornering dynamics in ways that would make physicists cry.

Things to consider are wether you will ever need to raise/lower your ride height.
Would you need performance or aesthetics?
Do you know enough to warrant/utilize fully adjustable suspension?

    Re: Upgrade from sport suspension

I'm running Eibach Pros + Koni FSD shocks and my B7 sits exactly like B7A4Sports does. It's lower than sport, but rides oh so much better and handles better than the sport or stock suspension.
