Dension Ice Link with Symphony II

Having some trouble installing my Dension Ice Link plus into my A3 with Symphony II.

It worked fine on my B6 which had a Chorus unit and a 6 stacker in the glove box.

It plugs in fine to the Symphony but the stereo does not recognise it (On the Chorus, you simply pressed 'CD/CC button to turn the unit on).

However, with the Symphony having an internal stacker, pressing 'CD' simply turns it on to CD.

I heard that the car needs to be VAG'd to tell the stereo that there is an external stacker connected (the Ice Link in this case). Is this correct?

All help and advice is appreciated.

Re: Dension Ice Link with Symphony II

I had a '06 w/ Symphony II and the same Ice Link.

Did you plug it to the back of the head unit somehow? Or to the CD changer cable that runs to the glove box? Mine went to the CD changer cable.

When a Ipod is connected, you need to use the CD function for it to work. The CD changer worked when you disconnected the Ipod.

Also, I didn't have to VAG it.

Unfortunately, I don't have the setup now since I went w/ RNS-E so that is pretty much all I can help you with.

    I tried plugging into both.

The connection at the back of the changer slot doesn't fit into Dension Kit.

Is there an adapter that I can get?

Did you detach the connection from the back of the changer slot and then connect the Dension to it? It won't attach directly to the back of the glove box.

Yeah, I pulled the changer box out and unclipped the cable. The connection is 2 rows where as the Dension is 3 rows of points.

That cable that is plugged into the changer box, is that meant to plug strait into the Dension?

Yes, the cable that goes from the headunit to the changer box in the glove box. Disconnect that from the changer box and hook up the Dension to that.

See here, its not my site, but very useful: http://oooo-a3.blogspot.com/2006/05/...with-dice.html

Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated.

I've followed that write up before but the plug on my Ice Link is different and does not fit into that plug.

It fits perfectly by piggy backing the cables at the back of the stereo but does not fit into the cable behind the CD changer box.

    All sorted.

Got it working through connecting it at the back of the stereo and not through the changer connection.

Thanks for your help! Much appreciated.
