Does anyone know of a manufacturer that as hood louvers that fit our cars...

I'm looking for hood louvers to be installed on my CF hood to reduce the high pressure under the hood and evacuated the hot air from under the hood.

I don't want a crappy looking hood louver but one that looks good and can be easily retro fitted to my CF hood.

The louvers could be made of aluminium, stainless steel of Carbon Fibre.

I doubt I hate that no one makes a hood with vents in it..I do know a guy here that works with fiberglass and carbon fiber he can prob make them

Vorsteiner made a CF one and it was on Bobby's B6 and it was the only one I have seen.

It had integrated louvers and very subtle in placement.

Why don't you get some louvers made out of aluminum, cut the hood and rivet the louvers into place?

If someone made some good looking and adaptable ones in CF, aluminium or Stainless Steel it would be great.

I saw the Run Cool ones last night on the net and I'm going to call them today. However I don't think they look that great. I would much prefer something like in the top picture.

The company that makes the ones on the NSX also make a set that is smaller. They also sell them in black.

Those are from Run Cool, so you might have the same info I found. Unless you meant the first picture which is a Vette?

Yes and they said it was not in their plans. I'm just about the receive my secong Euro Gear hood, the first one was damaged in shipping. I got them to make me an extra light version of their hood and now they finally announced they are going to make a CF rear trunk lid so I want that too.

Talked to Fiber Image too and they had no plans either.

Now if I can get someone to make CF front fenders.

^^yes they make CF flares $700 for a set and fiberglass for $400 a set.

Any company is willing to make anything you want if you are willing to pay the cost of making the molds and 1 production part, that or be willing to pay for 10-15 production parts up front. Problem is no one is willing to pay out that much money to get it done. High priced large CF parts are just not a big selling product, plus the shipping charges kind of kill it for most people.

considering how easy cf overlaying is. couldn't anyone just mold together cf parts?

i'm in the market for a new driver side fender , maybe i could mold a cf fender for myself

Well VIS make more than a few vented hoods for B5s , I doubt it would be much of a stretch to do one for a B6.


I think they do have ^^ this one for the B6.

Gotta love the hood louvers on a mid-engine car. You mean you don't get an extra 8 hp by improving the airflow to your spare tire ? Sad day for the rice-rocket community...

UPDATE

I just ordered the Run Cool louvers.

I went with the medium size high flow version in aluminium with semi gloss poder coating.

The plan is to not use the rivets to install it but to bond them to the CF hood from beneath.

which way are you putting them on ? the old 280 z had some decient looking louvers that you could probably get for a few bucks from a junk yard here is a link to them.

I'm assuming your are talking about the NSX picture?

That's the way they should be installed, that is the open side of the louvers faces the windshield.

The air is drawn out from undeneath the hood and exhausted towards the windshield.

You do not want the louvers' opennings facing the air stream coming over the hood pushing the air in or under the hood.

That's a NACA type air scoop to let air in.

That's not my job and I'll let the CF boys deal with that.

I don't intend to paint the hood to save on weight.

UPDATE:

Hello from Williamsburg VA. Overnighted here from New York on my way to West Palm Beach and then back home.

Runcool Louvers is about an hour's drive away so I had them overnight me a medium size semi gloss powder coated "high flow" aluminium model of their louvers.

They actually don't look as bad as I thought. I will try to take pictures tonight when I get back home and post them.

Of course when I finally get my CF hood (hopefully on Monday) and we install them I'll be posting pictures of that too.

I think instead of top mounting the louvers we may try to bond them to the CF from underneath... More to come soon.
