I am planning to get GIAC chipped next week, but the guy at the shop told me that I won't pass emissions testing with the new program and that I'd have to get the stock program to pass.
Is this true? I am not running any other performance mods.

You'll be fine. My old car passed smog with GIAC software and a catback exhaust no sweat.

He could be trying to sell you the "stock" program, which imo is good to have handy w/ a flashloader. Valet & Kill mode are also good add-ons.

You shouldn't have to worry about it. Mine passed everything on the smog test except visual inspection. That's only cuz of the intake. It passes fine now that I have the OEM Airbox.

You aren't going to the right smog guy. My guy lifts the hood and sees this:

and goes "You got the CARB sticker for that intake?"

    "..no?"

"Wellll I'm just gonna have to assume it's stock then."

Sounds like they're just trying to nickel and dime you for extras.

GIAC 91 oct program passes smog just fine, as do APR and Revo.

All major tunes pass smog: apr, giac, revo, mtm, etc.
Hell I think I actually smogged better with a chip vs stock.
