Got my SSAC exhaust today...

looks nice. welds look good. can't beat it for $350 bucks. For the time being, i'm using my piggies with the cat-back system... can anybody tell me how they connected their SSAC cat-back to the stock downpipes? was it easy? any major hood rigging involved or cutting or welding? thanks. I already searched the SSAC sticky thread and read all the sub threads and found nothing concerning this issue. thanks guys.

there will be no problems the SSAC down pipes with the test pipes are the same length as the piggies so u can just get new sleeve clamps and the catback will go right on

thank you very much. and again... this is a review thread. the exhaust does look very nice, however, i've done piggies before, and i know just how precise the downpipe fitment has to be to work, and it will cost a lot more than $350 bucks to get a quality downpipe to fit the right way. i wont be installing the downpipes until the motor comes out down the road.

my ssac downpipes fit like a glove, bolted up to the mounting brackets perfectly. putting them on is the easy part... getting the stock pipes out is HELL!!!

honestly i would keep the DP's over every current DP's out there, great welds, 3 inch to 2.5, great spool and there actually not hard to install, just get a long 3/8ths extensions and bang it out from under neath. Ran this set up, SSAC DP, AWE Twin-1, was very very happy with the sound and performance.

three days. you should get your tracking number the day after you buy them. I live in TN, they are in NC so it was very fast... and Discontinued..? nope. I emailed them a week ago and they said they were in stock and ready to ship so that outta squash that rumor

Ugh, I see this thread being shut down in about 2 seconds. All of the information is in the sticky above. The original question was if you use the stock downpipes, what is neccessary to bolt the catback to the stock pipes. I guess it looks like we just need to use sleeve clamps.

thought i should let you guys know i just installed the SSAC cat-back and i LOVE it. it took about 3.5 hours with some messing around, and It bolted right up to my piggies. the only problems i ran into had to do with the stock clamps being dumb. I highly suggest either getting new bolts/nuts for the clamps or the entire clamp. I also went to O'reillys auto parts and got more sleeve clamps to connect the muffler section and resonator section. Other than that, be sure to wrap the thick black hard line near the spare tire well which is for the Evap System in high temp heat wrap. as far as the exhaust sound goes, i love it. Its nice and low, with some slight rasp and a gargle at WOT. Follow these directions for the exhaust install... sorry AWE :-( i still love you

Hey, thanks for the review on the SSAC exhaust, I definitely think I'll be purchasing one.

What were the exact clamps you had to replace? Do you have a part # of any kind? Or even a picture so I can bring that into the store with me?

i didnt replace the clamps, but i do suggest replacing them. here is the part number for the factory clamps 357-253-141A, you'll need two. and then you need to pick up two of these http://www.ryderfleetproducts.com/cg...mpaign=product
at your local autoparts store.. just ask for a 2 1/2 inch band clamp for an exhaust. those will be used to connect the resonator section to the muffler section of the exhaust. Again, it isnt necessarily a MUST to get new sleeve clamps from Audi, but it is recommended. But you absolutely HAVE to get four new bolts for the stock clamps... i hope that makes sense to you guys.

They don't have the precats on the downpipes. They have resonators or testpipes where the cats are on the stock exhaust. So there are NO cats on the SSAC exhaust or downpipes

Yes you need new gaskets if you can't salvage the original ones. Yes it replace the entire exhaust system from the turbos to the exhaust tips

Is there a DIY for the SSAC downpipes? Or is it basically just following the DIY Piggie Pipes but stuffing in these instead?

I'm pretty much dead set on getting the exhaust/dp combo, just undecided to run the SSAC downpipes or make my own Piggies.

Suggestions?
