Hey guys been doing alot of researching and searching. I finally found what exhaust i want. First i wanted Thermal R&D, but went to order it from e-code tuning but found that they dont carry it. NOBODY has it. i even called thermal, the guy is like uhhh uhhh i dont know....were just a manufacturer. So i gave up on it. I looked at the DeCorsa, but found out its made in china, APR cracks i heard. Milltek is too quiet. Soooo that leaves me with AWE, there sound clip sounds sick. Let me know what u guys think. I dont mind honesty. Thanx guys

    Re: AWE exhaust

I want that one too it's awesome plus they are close to home here in PA. But I think I'm gonna get a magnaflow just because of price. With the money I save on that I can get injectors too. But actually the milltek being too quiet is a really good thing if you want to use a test pipe later. I watched a video this guy has on youtube, and he's using a milltek exhaust with a test pipe and it sounds nasty dude.

    Re: AWE exhaust

Yea magnaflows sound great too. Just dont like the fact they come without a downpipe. Also was never a fan of Chip Foose. lol. Milltek is so expensive. I really think REMUS sounds the best, but so expensive, Its like $500 for an axle back, Screw that.

remus is basically just as loud as the milltek system, way too quiet IMO. post up sound clips of the AWE when you get it, it's a great setup!

    Re: AWE exhaust

AWE, DeCorsa and Thermal R&D were all made by Thermal. Eurocode told me Thermal stopped producing them. AWE, DeCorsa and thermal are the same, except AWEs is assembled by themselves (so I was told), but the diameters are the same. The way to go would be DeCorsa or AWE since there is no more Thermal R&D, the quality of DeCorsa is really really good, so is AWE. I didn't know it was made in China but so what? The product will be 100% godly, everything is made in China these days anyways. Don't even get me started on how sweet these exhausts sound...

i have AWE. i love it. from what i gathered, it's the same as the Thermal, besides the fact that the AWE has dual adjustable exhaust tips, instead of only 1 like the thermal.

awe is nice n loud, but good quality. i love mine! just man up and get one

EXACTLY. Drone will make any daily driver into a headache. I had an APR exhaust on my B5 S4 that droned like mad... I had to sell it because I was tired of being unable to have conversation between 2-3k rpm.

I went with Milltek for the B6 A4. Better quieter than louder, I don't need to turn heads and besides, nobody is looking at a 100,000 miles "station wagon" anyways!

AWE FTW ! Sounds even better with a test pipe. it drones a little but it's really not that serious. Quality product with no issues at all. Milltek is nice too. It's quiet but has a nice sound when you get on it

Have you had our drone fix installed? It helps cut down on some of the excess mechanical resonance that you hear with our exhaust.

For people who are able to bring their cars in, we will install the drone fix on your car free of charge.

If you are unable to bring it to us, we can sell you a new set of tips with the drone fix already installed. The new tips will cost $75 for Silver Tips and $150 for Diamond Black.

I order an AWE exhaust back in October it was put on back order. I finally received the exhaust in December. I have no complaints about the exhaust except for sounding like you are in a drone and it took so long to get.

*High Five!* Im going to start a 100k Wagon Club.

I've got a full GTRS kit as well that is going on in the springs once the salt is gone. I just need to buy software, HFC, and a clutch and I'll be all set!

    Re: AWE exhaust

    Alex,
Is there any way to tell the tips apart (drone/non-drone ones)? I got my AWE exhaust 2nd hand (but almost new) and I have some drone at certain rpm's, but not all that bad. Just wondering I can benefit from the fix or not.

Also, for those of us that can't drive to your shop in PA easily to get this "free fix"...can you just send the "fix" to us far away owners free of charge (shipping/handling costs and installation our resposibility if we don't want to buy new tips)?
**Edit**What about if we mail our old tips in to get the fix done?**

    Everyone,
I was worried about my AWE being too loud and attract too much attention...but it is just about right IMO(does drone a little). Quality and power output is top notch IMO and def worth the extra $ over a borla/magnaflow and hold up alot better overtime in the real world compared to APR. I get complaments from my v8 truck buddies and muscle car loving friends that it dosen't sound anything like a 4cyl and in a good way.

Magna flow sounds really cheap in person. AWE is too raspy. Corsa? Never heard of it in real life. Milltek? been driving it for more than 4yrs with the HFC. Great system! I need something nice and quiet during long cruise and when I floor it, there is some nice noise at least!

how does a tip help with the drone? i dont get that...

plus, the ones pictures look like the ones i have as far as i can tell.

another thing, what are the "diamond black" tips? the ones posted look like regular ol' polished looking ones, same as i have now.. what's the difference??

oh yah, and how come if you're local, it's free for new tips, but for everyone else is 150 bucks. 150??? for 2 tips. thats absurd. i already had to spend extra money on new bolts because my kit came with some sh*tty bolts, that wouldn't tighten all the way, then when you tried to take them off, they siezed and broke in half (3 out of the 4) and that was a shop that SELLS AWE that snapped the bolts. not myself in the garage..

    Re: AWE exhaust

^^^ Its not free for locals for new tips. They just add the "mesh" type piece to the original tip. There was another option of sending your current tips in for 25 + shipping charges if you cant prove you bought them from AWE or one of its distributors, like me who bought mine used from another member.

We weld in a piece of perforation into the tip. You can see it clearly here:

This perforation disrupts the soundwave at part throttle. This helps clean up the sound so you do not hear the "drone".

Thankfully the full throttle sound that we all love is unaffected.

You will be able to tell by looking at the inside of your exhaust tip. If the tip is smooth on the inside, it does not have the drone fix. If it has the perforated portion inside the tip, it has the drone fix.

If you've had the system installed on your car for any amount of time, you will probably need to remove the carbon build up by cleaning the inside of the tip.

If you can send us the tips from your exhaust, and are the original purchased of the system, we will have the fix installed for free. You will only be responsible for shipping charges.

Otherwise, there is a small fee of $25 plus shipping to non-original purchasers.

The Diamond Black Finish is rather hard to capture in a photograph, especially without a good reference point to compare too. Here are two photos of our Cayman Exhaust Tips that will clear things up:

    Polished Silver Finish

    Diamond Black Finish

oh yah, and how come if you're local, it's free for new tips, but for everyone else is 150 bucks. 150??? for 2 tips. thats absurd. i already had to spend extra money on new bolts because my kit came with some sh*tty bolts, that wouldn't tighten all the way, then when you tried to take them off, they siezed and broke in half (3 out of the 4) and that was a shop that SELLS AWE that snapped the bolts. not myself in the garage..
I think theres a misunderstanding here.

For individuals who are able to bring their car to us, we will install the drone fix on their exhaust tips for free.

If you want the drone fix installed on your car, and you don't live near us you have two options.

Option 1) Send us the tips from your exhaust and we will install the drone fix for free, as long as you are the original purchaser of the system. You will only be charged for shipping.

If you are not the original purchaser of the system, there is a small fee of $25 plus shipping.

Option 2) You can purchase a set of new exhaust tips with the drone fix already installed. The cost for this is $75.00 for the Polished Silver Tips and $150.00 for the Diamond Black Tips

I'm sorry that you had bad luck with the bolts that were provided with your exhaust. Next time, let us know and we can get you new bolts right away.

Anybody know how well the diamond black tips match GM wheels? I have silver USP and I think it would look sick with some GM accents like the wheels and tips.
