    Todeshandler... VF SC gas question...

I saw a few weeks back that you posted that you were going to shed some light on the SC gas consumption question. Just wondering if you were able to determine what kind of gas mileage you were getting on "normal" highway driving?

I'm considering on taking the plunge to up my HP, but I still drive my car over long distances so I'm just wondering how much more frequent my stops at gas stations will be (just got back from a 4000+ mile road trip). Depending on driving I get about ~240 city and ~325 highway out of a tank.

Gas?? Do we worry about such things in our cars??

    Just kidding, I'm curious too...

So which of us is going to be the first with this kit I wonder?

I would love to see info as well. But with it being a bata test stuff like the gas mileage is only going to get better with time. Most supercharged or turbo cars if driven proper should help bigger motors get better mileage.
If you don't have haters, then you're not kicking enough ass.

JHM powered 12.2 On the JHM Tune With Launch Assist for the Automatic JHM Nitrous kit/JHM headers all this in a Automatic.

And lastly for the grammar police that are bound to step in
I came here from Germany in the 6th grade. I could not read or write a lick of English. I am working to get better. Thanks and sorry. I always try to edit my posts for the best grammar and easiest reading.

I thought superchargers potentially reduce gas mileage due to extra weight and parasitic engine power usage

He probably hasn't been driving the car so much, isn't his clutch toast?

FWIW my 3.0 gets about the same MPG on highway or maybe slightly better after adding a roots blower. City will go down depending on how you drive it. My tuning could also be a bit better, so I imagine this VF kit will be slightly better. Conceptually it makes sense, when crusing you're making more power and the engine is more efficient (less gas consumption). Under hard driving (more power) you need more gas flow = less efficient.

    That makes no sense.

To go 60 mph, your engine makes the same power if it's supercharged or not.

As long as the software is targeting stoich at light loads (as it should), fuel consumption should be about the same when cruising. There will be a slight fuel consumption penalty to drive the supercharger belt.

New cars like the B8 S4 have a bypass valve to help improve efficiency at cruise. Mercedes has a magnetic clutch to decouple the blower drive.
    Slow, stock, smurfy blue car.

Relax, I just troll this place for fun.

Yeah that's what I meant, I should have been more clear. I didn't mean to say the car was actually making more power at the same speed.

Sorry guys but nothing to report. Traffic was too bad to get any meaningful data. It took me 6 hours to get to SoCal and 8.5 to get back due to traffic (normal trip is under 4 hours without holiday traffic). On top of that until yesterday I have had my Thule box on the roof which hurts mileage as well. Now that it's off next time I fill up I'll keep track of where we are at mileage wise.

    Is your clutch messed up?

I babied it for several hundred miles. It's ok right now but if I launch it slips like hell. VF is working on a new setup with SouthBend for me utilizing some SACHS components as well.
